Hundreds of bags containing radioactive waste from the Fukushima disaster nuclear clean-up have been swept away in recent floods in Japan, it has emerged.
The torrential rainfall which hit Japan last week resulted in at least 293 bags of radioactive waste collected after the 2011 nuclear disaster being washed away from the village of Iitate, Fukushima prefecture.

A Chinese woman who suffered a miscarriage has been arrested for allegedly stealing another mother’s child in order to conceal the truth of her loss from her family.
According to People’s Daily Online, the Suspect, who is known as Zhao Juan, dressed up as a nurse on August 23 and took a new-born boy to pass off as her own from a hospital in eastern China’s Hongze county.
She was apprehended by the police when she was faking childbirth in the same hospital on the same day.

20 Killed In Plateau Village
At least 20 persons were killed yesterday morning following attacks in Zakupwang, Fan village in Foron district of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State, by unknown gunmen suspected to be herdsmen.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the attack was carried out between 12am and 1am.

They took advantage of the absence of electricity supply, the transformer stationed in front of the building before scaling the fence.
They were said to have broken the bulb at the corridor, entered the house and turned off the lights. They headed straight to the rooms.

Afghan Couple Stoned To Death On Adultery Charges

A man and woman have been stoned to death by Taliban militants in northern Sar-i-Pul province for having immoral contacts. Abdul Jabar Haqbin, acting governor of Sar-i-Pul province said that Taliban had kidnapped the man and woman three days before.
He said Taliban planned to execute the hostages on Friday but it was delayed due to an airstrike by Afghan forces. Haqbin added that the execution was ultimately carried in Kata Qala area of Suzma Qala District yesterday.

President Muhammadu Buhari will leave Abuja for Paris on Monday to begin a three-day official visit to France at the invitation of President Francois Hollande.
This is contained in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by the president’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina.

Customs Delay BVN Registration In China, India
With only few weeks to the October 31 deadline, Nigerian bank customers living in India and China may have difficulty registering for their Bank Verification Number (BVN) as customs officials delay commencement of the registration process.
This, according to the managing director and chief executive of Nigerian Inter Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) Ade Shonubi, is because materials to be used in the registration process in India and China are still being held by custom officials of the two countries.
Shonubi while speaking with journalists last week revealed that NIBSS which is spearheading the BVN is having challenges in clearing the registration materials in Bo India and China for over three weeks.
“We have devices that are stuck in India and China and for the last three week we have been unable to get them out. And these are devices that are meant to be set up there but we can’t get their customs to review and release it.

At least seven people were killed when a school building collapsed on Sunday in Jos, Plateau State.
A witness said Abu Naima Primary and Secondary School in Bukuru, Jos South local Government Area, said to be an Islamic school, collapsed on Sunday evening killing some of the pupils.
The incident happened at about 6:30 p.m. local time.

Osinbajo Upbraided Northern Leaders

An Indian court on Friday convicted 12 people over a series of bombings on commuter trains in Mumbai that killed around 190 people in 2006.

Mr. Idoko is also the Chief Imam of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
