Martial, Iheanacho Come Good, Chelsea Slump Again

Record signing Anthony Martial scored on his Manchester United debut as they beat Liverpool 3-1 to move up to second in the Premier League.

Daley Blind gave the hosts the lead shortly after the break, before Ander Herrera converted from the penalty spot after he was brought down by Joe Gomez in the box.

Christian Benteke pulled one back with a stunning strike, but Martial restored United’s two-goal lead with an excellent individual goal.

Kelechi Iheanacho opened his Manchester City account with a last-minute winner as his side maintained their perfect start to the English Premier League campaign by winning 1-0 at Crystal Palace yesterday.

Chelsea suffered its fifth defeat of the season at Goodison Park, after James’ Naismith scored a hat-trick to earn Everton a 3-0 win over the defending champions. Nemanja Matic scored the consolation goal.

Olivier Giroud came off the bench to ensure Arsenal didn’t pay for their profligacy in a 2-0 win over Stoke at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, after Theo Walcott had put Arsenal ahead in the first half.

Odion Ighalo was the hero as his 59th minute strike helped Watford secure its first win of the season, ending Swansea City’s unbeaten run with a 1-0 win.

Saido Berahino’s appearance as a second-half sub failed to spark West Brom, as they held out for a 0-0 draw against Southampton at The Hawthorns.
