Ireland Returns 5 Containers Of Beans Exported From Nigeria



Five containers of beans exported from Nigeria to the Republic of Ireland have been rejected and returned by the importers after the products were received with heaps of weeviles.

Currently, exportation of beans from Nigeria is banned by the European Union, but it is not clear when the rejected product was exported.

I kidnapped my neice to extort money from my stingy uncle – Suspect



One Chima John, 37, was on Tuesday paraded at the Oyo State Police Command for allegedly kidnapping his 13-year-old niece.

John, who has been in the custody of the police, confessed before journalists that he abducted his niece, Ijeoma, to get to his uncle whom he described as stingy.

Akwa Ibom to collect tax for consumption of Alcohol, says Commissioner


 The Akwa Ibom Commissioner for Finance, Mr Akan Okon, said consumption of alcohol in hotels and beer parlours in the state would now attract tax.

Okon told journalists in Uyo on Saturday that people who consumed alcoholic drinks would begin to pay a token as tax.

``Some people who lodge in hotels and consume alcohol will henceforth pay taxes to the state government.

A knife-wielding assailant hacked at children in a Chinese schoolyard on Monday, wounding 10 before killing himself, police and reports said, the latest such attack in the country.

Alfa promises to turn N350,000 to N5m, vanishes


The Maroko Police Division in the Lekki area of Lagos State has arrested a self-acclaimed Alfa, Alhaji Ibrahim Ahamido, for allegedly defrauding a trader, Sarah Moses.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Ahamido collected N350,000 from Moses, promising to boost her business by turning the money to N5m.

He was, however, alleged to have fled with the money, after giving his girlfriend, Hawa Musa, N100,000 to “renew their love”.

A Liberian, Daniel Barnney, is being held by the police for allegedly selling his nine-month-old son Emmanuel to a 43-year-old woman, Ekah Richard, for N250,000.

Barnney, one Pastor Samuel Osavitu and a worker at an orphanage, Alhaji Sunkanmi Adamu, are being quizzed at Festac Police Station over the matter.
