God's Goal for You: A Grateful Spirit in Every Situation
The Bible says, "Give thanks in everything" (1 Thess. 5:18 HCSB). In everything? In trouble, in distress? Even interruptions?
(Photo: KarenJames.com)
Jesus did. When five thousand people interrupted his planned retreat, he took them out to lunch. "Then he told the people to sit down on the grass. He took the five loaves and the two fish and, looking to heaven, he thanked God for the food" (Matt. 14:19 NCV, emphasis mine).
Jesus was robustly thankful. He was thankful when Mary interrupted the party with perfume. When he hugged children and blessed babies and watched blind people look at their first sunsets, Jesus was thankful. When the disciples returned from their first mission trip, he rejoiced: "I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth" (Luke 10:21).
Thank you, . . .

It’s a case of poacher turned game-keeper. US Democrats, reeling from losses in the midterm elections, are turning to a former Republican media hitman to boost their chances of taking the White House in 2016.
David Brock is the name; his trademark, a silver pompadour and Trotsky-style wire-rimmed glasses; his political ethos, to beat Republicans by using an apparatus of quick-response law, ethics groups and journalism groups, a strategy pioneered, naturally, by the Republicans.

Young Christians Want to Reconcile Their Faith and Sexuality But Feel Shut Out, Says Religious Studies Professor
NEW YORK — Young Christians continue to grapple with how to reconcile traditional and restrictive church teachings on sexual ethics with the intimate relationships they experience and witness in their social circles, according to a religious studies professor and recent surveys.
The traditional Christian view that sex is only to be experienced in heterosexual marriage has been shared by less and less Americans over the years. A 2013 Gallup poll indicates that Millennials (those 18 to mid-30s) are least likely to hold the same view. Americans who claim to be Christians can also be counted among those with liberal views on premarital sex. One could ask if this means that Christian doctrines on sex and sexuality need to be loosened or revised to meet the needs and concerns of the present culture.
