Gunmen kill 2 in Port Harcourt

… 25 suspects in police net

The Sunnewsonline reports that Gunmen yesterday, shot dead a policeman and another person, suspected to be a cultist in Amadi-Ama town in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The incident occurred barely 48 hours after five persons were killed by yet-to-be-identified gummen in Omoku, headquarters of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered that yesterday’s killing occurred at about 7am, when residents of the area were preparing for church. According to an eyewitness, four armed youths were sighted at about an hour before the incident.
Daily Sun gathered that the other victim, identified as Gift, was a member of a cult group (Greenlander). A source said the bandits shot the victim dead on the spot, while the policeman died later. Meanwhile, there was mass arrest of persons by the police, following the death of the officer. Wife of one of those arrested, Mrs. Seline Koko, said her husband, Silas, was ironing his clothes when the police arrested him.
Mrs. Koko lamented that effort to trace the police station where her husband was taken to, failed. She appealed to the police and the state government to release her husband, as he knew nothing about the incident.
Confirming the report, the state Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Ahmad Muhammad, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), said 25 persons had been arrested in connection with the incident.
