US performs its first uterus transplant



The United States has completed its first uterus transplant surgery, following on a technique already proven in Sweden that could help women suffering from infertility, the Cleveland Clinic said Thursday.

The nine-hour surgery took place on February 24, and the 26-year-old patient -- whose identity was not revealed -- was in stable condition, the hospital said in a statement.

I bought police walkie-talkie for N2,000 –Fake policeman



For two years, 45-year-old Dele Oduwole had operated as a fake traffic policeman around Ketu area of Lagos.

His specialty: arresting traffic offenders and extorting money from them.

Oduwole, who ran out of luck recently, said he and an accomplice had arrested a motorist at Ketu and impounded his vehicle before a suspicious policeman challenged them about their identities.

The suspect said he preferred to operate with just a walkie-talkie rather than putting on a fake police uniform.

It was gathered the deceased whose father is a herbalist had wanted to make money ritual by himself so he gathered 3 of his friends and copied some of his Dad's written money ritual process.

According to Obasanjo, he adopted Kunle as his biological child "in every sense of the word to compensate for his mother being deprived of an education by our father".

Punch Metro learnt that 37-year-old Abdullahi from Adamawa State was apprehended while he was on a trip to Lekki, reportedly to raise money for his wedding billed for March 27.

A driver, Emmanuel John,has been arrested for allegedly duplicating his boss’ car key and attempting to abscond with it.
John, 26, was arrested at Abraham Adesanya Estate in Lekki last Sunday night for alleged attempted theft of the Toyota Corolla car marked EPE 642 DX, which he planned to take to a Valentine’s Day party at Splash Hotel in Sangotedo, Ajah. 

John had a week before his plan, cut the Toyota Corolla key without the knowledge of his boss, Mrs Flora Ighalo.
On Sunday afternoon when he was not supposed to be at work, he allegedly sneaked into the Abraham Adesanya Estate residence of his boss, and took away the car with the cut key.

Police nab Chinese, others for Lagos boat accident


The Lagos State Police Command has arrested some people said to be responsible for a boat accident which claimed seven lives in the Ijede, Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

Former Governor of Akwa Ibom State and Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio has denied owning any property in Dubai, United Arab Emirate or any other foreign country.

Akpabio in a statement on Friday by his his media assistant, Anietie Ekong, challenged the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration to seize any money found in a foreign bank account bearing his name.

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has been denied bail by a Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja.

Justice John Tosho on Friday, ruled that Kanu was a threat to national security, and as such, his bail application would be denied.

Artist shot by police denied treatment in hospitals

  

An artist, Smart Owie, shot by police during the demolition of the Artistes Village at the National Theatre, Lagos, said he was being denied treatment by hospitals because he had no police report.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Owie was shot in his right leg on Jan. 23 during the demolition of some structures at the village believed to be illegal.

Israel PM accuses UN's chief Ban Ki-moon of 'encouraging terror'

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused the UN chief of "encouraging terror" after Ban Ki-moon spoke of Palestinian frustration at Israel's occupation and said it was natural to resist.

"The comments of the UN Secretary General encourage terror," Netanyahu said in a statement. "There is no justification for terror."

Earlier, Ban told the UN Security Council of the "profound sense of alienation and despair driving some Palestinians -- especially young people" in the upsurge of attacks on Israelis since the start of October.

"Palestinian frustration is growing under the weight of a half century of occupation and the paralysis of the peace process," he said.
