Pope FrancisiPad used by Catholic leader to be auctioned off for charity

A Montevideo auction house hopes to get at least $40,000 for an iPad used by Pope Francis, with the proceeds to be donated to a Catholic high school in the northwestern Uruguayan city of Paysandu.

"There is interest not only in our country," auctioneer Juan Castells told EFE. "Recently, we received calls from around the world. The buzz has been great."

A nagging wife has returned from the grave to ensure her husband uses fabric conditioner and reprimand him for wearing her slippers.Most recently, she reportedly screamed at her 79-year-old husband, Ted Wiseman to ‘stop sniffing’ while he was in bed.Wiseman said, “Yvonne was so house-proud that she hated anything being out of place. I was drifting off to sleep the other night when she told me to Stop sniffing.”

Police officials have arrested a woman after they offered her a ride only for her to pop a question to them demanding to know if she was permitted to bring her marijuana into the patrol vehicle.

The 36-year-old woman, Michelle Sanford from West Volusia in Florida, faces drug charges after she was arrested by the officials.

No Election in 14 polling units in Plateau, says REC

The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Plateau state, Dr. Godwin Kwanga, said on Saturday that there will be no election in 14 polling units in the state because the names of the voters there “did not reflect on the register”.

Boko Haram members attack polling units in Gombe, two killed

Two people have been killed at two polling units in Birin Bolawa and Birin Fulani in the Nafada district of Gombe state this morning by Boko Haram members.

According residents of the villages who spoke with AFP, they said suspected members of Boko Haram stormed the polling units, attacked the electorates and killed two people. An election official who spoke with AFP under anonymity, said: “We could hear the gunmen shouting, ‘Didn’t we warn you about staying away from (the) election?'”. UN Secretary-General High Level Representative to Nigeria, Dr. Mohammed Ibn Chambas, has said on Friday that the UN has given $60m(about N1.2 billion)to Nigeria to assist the country in the 2015 general elections.

Chambas disclosed this at a press conference in Abuja on Friday saying:

The UN was interested in Nigeria’s elections because “the country is too important for the sub-region, the region and the world at large.”
