February 14, 2015 is a day Bayelsans will not forget in a hurry. It was supposed to be a day of celebration of love being the Valentine’s Day, but it turned out to be a black Saturday. On that day, 11 prominent daughters of the state were cut down in their prime in a road accident near the old Ahoada Market Road, along the East-West Road axis of Rivers State.

AKARA, also known also fried bean cakes are mouth-watering snacks. This snack can be eaten at any time of day with pap (fermented corn starch), bread and cornstarch (agidi or eko).

The basic ingredient used for the preparation of this food is beans. Considering the health benefits of beans, they should be known as "healthy people's meat" instead of "poor people's meat", as they're often called.

Did you imagine how far you will get to when you started?

My first single was out in October 2004 and my first album was released on the 25th of March 2005. Yes. As at then, I always said I was an entertainer. I always said “I’m Dbanj” as loud as I could. And I hoped and prayed that I’d become the biggest entertainer to ever come out of Africa. I also prayed that I will be the richest entertainer and so on. I had a lot of dreams. And it has been a great challenge since ten years up until now. When I count my blessings I see that God has been faithful to me. There are places I have been to that I didn’t think I would ever get, although I dreamt big. There are a number of stages I didn’t foresee I’d get to that I am honoured to be in. It can only get better. And I am very grateful to God.

A huge fire this morning engulfed one of the world's tallest residential towers in Dubai. The fire broke out at about 2am on Saturday in the 86-storey Torch tower on the northeast end of the densely populated district, which is packed with multi-storey skyscrapers. Your face has been scarce for a while. What have you been working on?

I have been working on a movie called Antique. The movie is about how Nigerians trivialise things that are important to our history especially the way we sell our antiques. If you do not have a history, you cannot have a future. If you say that the Benin Empire used to do certain things in the olden days, then you have to back such statements up with proof and evidence. If we sell all our antiques, we have no proof to back up our story. It would just be hearsay. We had so many arts from the Benin Empire but most of them have been stolen or sold.

A total of 158 Women and children abducted by Boko Haram insurgents from Katarko village in Yobe have been reunited with their families in Damaturu, Yobe. The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof Attahiru Jega, on Wednesday, reiterated his preparedness to conduct the general elections as scheduled but maintained that only the military could guarantee the sanctity of the March 28 and April 11 dates.
