Dr. Alex Otti
Governorship candidate of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, has refuted media reports that he has secured $100 billion from International Development Financial Institution (IDFI) for projects in the state.
According to Sun, in a statement on behalf of the governorship aspirant, the Director of Media and Publicity for Dr. Otti Campaign Organisation, Mr. Chris Ukah, clarified that his boss’ message was misconstrued, stressing that what Otti said was that $100 million dollars (and not $100 billion as reported) was accessible at IDFI, which he would vigorously pursue and secure if voted into power as governor of the state.
He explained that Otti never said he had secured $100 billion dollars for the construction of an industrial park.
The campaign organisation stated that the governorship hopeful assured that the funding facilities and the IDFI option are accessible when someone with the credibility and clout of Otti becomes governor.
It further wishes to explain that Otti’s action was in line with his policy to explore and exploit the existing grants and aids provided by multi-lateral organisations and international development agencies to support developmental projects in Africa and other third world countries.
According to the statement, the APGA flag-bearer promised people of the state that the money would be accessible and used for rural development, healthcare, agricultural development, provision of potable water and other essential amenities that are currently absent in Abia.
According to him, such investment and development would spontaneously attract Abia indigenes who had deserted the state due to lack of conducive environment for business operation, which he attributed to failure of the present administration.
