A new findings by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugee, UNHCR, made public on Tuesday indicated that no fewer than 13,000 Nigerian refugees have fled the country into neighbouring Cameroon due to the ongoing Boko Haram insurgency.

A group of Nigerian refugees rest in the Cameroon town of Mora after fleeing armed attacks.

According to the UN refugee agency report, most of the Nigerian refugees crossed from Adamawa state after insurgents attacked and captured the town of  in late October.

The report urged the country to keep its borders open for Nigerian refugees.
It was gathered that the refugees fled to the towns of Guider and Gashiga in the North region of Cameroon and to Bourha, Mogode and Boukoula in the Far North.

Quoting local authorities in Cameroon, the Nigerian refugees were said to have arrived in Cameroon in over 300 vehicles including many personal vehicles, as well as some trucks and rented cars.
However, the report stated that the vast majority of these 13,000 Nigerians have now returned to Nigeria, saying that their final destination was Yola, the capital of Adamawa state, south of Mubi.

On the Nigeria side, a UNHCR team confirmed that thousands of Nigerians are now being hosted at Girei in Gombe State and at the National Youth Service Centre in Yola.
It added that UNHCR was also examining claims that some of these refugees may have been forced to return to Nigeria.
“We are seeking assurances from both Nigeria and Cameroon that the return of these people was done on a voluntary basis.”
Cameroon is hosting thousands of refugees from Nigeria and the Central African Republic.
In other areas in the Far North region that border Nigeria’s Borno state, Cameroonian authorities continue to report regular attempts by insurgents to carry out incursions into Cameroonian territory, frequently launching attacks from their strongholds on the Nigerian side of the border.
Before the latest attacks in Mubi, Cameroonian authorities had confirmed that more than 43,000 Nigerians had sought refuge in Cameroon, of whom close to 17,000 are living at Minawao refugee camp, which is managed by UNHCR and other humanitarian agencies.
Meanwhile in Niger, at least 1,000 people have arrived in the Bosso area, in the south of the country, following the capture by insurgents last week of the garrison town of Malam Fatori.
The Nigerian town is located only a few kilometres from the border with Niger.
The new arrivals in Bosso say that Malam Fatori is now almost empty, as most inhabitants have fled without taking any belongings with them. Children show signs of trauma. At this point, it is difficult to know exactly how many people have arrived in the past few days.
It was gathered that the crisis in the north-east of Nigeria has led to the flight of more than 100,000 people to Niger since May 2013 (both Nigerian refugees and citizens of Niger), according to the local authorities, as well as 2,700 refugees to Chad.
The UN agency report advised the Nigerian and Cameroonian governments to ensure that humanitarian and asylum principles are upheld in light of the ongoing insecure situation in north-eastern Nigeria.

Botswana court thwarts president’s plans to tap brother as VP

Botswana’s government says it will accept a court ruling that effectively thwarts President’s Ian Khama’s bid to appoint his brother as vice-president.

Khama, re-elected for a second term last month, wanted lawmakers to vote by a show of hands for his deputy instead of through a secret ballot that would have allowed a party revolt.

The Court of Appeal on Tuesday followed the High Court in judging a secret parliamentary ballot constitutional.
“Government accepts that the matter has been resolved and wishes to assure the public that it will respect and fully implement the decision of the court,” the executive said in a statement late Tuesday.

Khama had faced a backlash from within his own party over the prospect of Tshekedi Khama being vice president, with parliamentarians accusing the president of trying to create a dynasty in one of Africa’s most democratic nations.

Block oil theft to stop Boko Haram – Saraki
Senator Bukola Saraki

Senator Bukola Saraki of Kwara sate has stated that Nigeria must have to stop oil theft if it seriously wants to bring an end to the activities of Islamic sect, Boko Haram in the country.

Saraki, a former governor of Kwara noted that until the source of funding for the sect is cut, Nigeria might not be able to conquer terrorism.

“To stop Boko Haram, I have always said we must block their source of funding. Block the leakages from oil Theft to shady government deals,” Saraki wrote on his Twitter page.

Saraki who is presently representing Kwara Central in the senate explained that he was seen an anti-President Goodluck Jonathan because he exposed fuel subsidy fraud. “When I exposed #Fuelsubsidy fraud in 2011, they said “Saraki hates Pres GEJ” Today N5 billion recovered, 40 arrested,”
It would be recalled that Economic and Financial Crimes Commission chairman, Ibrahim Lamorde revealed in Enugu that the commission has recovered N5 billion and has arrested 40 suspects in connection with the fuel subsidy fraud.

Saraki however believes that some of the fund lost to fuel subsidy fraud might have been used to fund terrorism.
“Over 1 trillion was mismanaged with #Fuelsubsidy fraud. No doubt some of this fund has been funneled to illegal activities like terrorism,” he tweeted.

Ebonyi Speaker Impeached, Four Lawmakers Suspended

Sixteen members of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly on Monday impeached the Speaker, Chukwuma Nwazunku over alleged gross misconduct, incompetence and embezzlement of funds meant for members of the assembly.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Blaise Orji has been elected as the new Speaker.
Moving the motion for the impeachment of Nwazunku, the Majority Leader of the assembly, Hon Sam Nwali representing Ikwo North reminded the lawmakers of the running battle between the members and the Speaker, adding that others issues relating to embezzlement prompted the impeachment of  Nwazunku.
Seconding the motion, the member representing Ezza South State Constituency, Hon Chris Usulor. alleged that the impeached Speaker, had continuously embezzled the funds of the assemby and urged member to support the impeachment process.
THISDAY learnt that it was the second time Nwazunku was impeached within two months but his job was saved by the swift intervention of the governor, Chief Martin Elechi.
However, the lawmakers also suspended four of their colleagues including the Chief Whip and member representing Afikpo North West, Hon. Ogbonnaya Ikoro, the member representing Abakaliki North, Hon. Oliver Nwachukwu, Hon. Odefa Obasi Odefa member representing Onicha East constituency and Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, member representing Izzi West state constituency of the state.
Nwazunku’s group had earlier suspended Nwachukwu and Nwifuru when they got  wind of the planned impeachment of the Speaker.
At a press conference immediately after their sitting, the member representing  Afikpo South West Constituency, Hon. Eni Uduma Chima, stated that the suspension carried out by members loyal to Nwazunku, was contrary to the assembly’s rule as it has been declared an exercise in futility.
According to him, two members, Hon. Odefa Obasi Odefa member representing Onicha East constituency and Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru , member representing Izzi West constituency were suspended through a motion moved  by Hon. Ikechukwu Ogbu and seconded by Hon. Princess Lilian Igwe.
Meanwhile, members loyal to Nwazunku have insisted that he remained the Speaker of the state assembly.
Insisting that Nwazunku remained impeached, Eni stressed that members of the assembly followed laid down constitutionally provisions for the impeachment of Nwazunku.
Feelers from some quarters revealed that the confusion presently rocking the state assembly is not unconnected with who becomes the next governor of the state.

I will be president in 2015 – Okorocha

Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha on Monday in Enugu declared his intention to contest next year’s presidential election, saying his victory had been prophesied.
“In 2015 I will be the president of the country,” Okorocha declared to loud cheers from broom-wielding members of the All Progressives Congress at a rally attended by prominent members of the party in the South-East.
The governor, who spoke in Igbo and English languages, said his emergence as the country’s president after the 2015 presidential polls would surprise many, particularly the ruling Peoples Democratic Party.
Okorocha, whose speech was punctuated with exclamations of “my people, my people,” said the APC presidential ticket was never zoned to the North.
He said his name would come first on the list of APC presidential aspirants and that when the party’s aspirants were being counted, his would be mentioned before those of a former military Head of State, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.); former Vice President Atiku Abubakar; and Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
He said, “Three months ago when I said I want to be president they asked, “Can an Igboman be president?”
“But now when they count those contesting for president they will first count Rochas Okorocha, before Buhari, Atiku Abubakar and Kwankwaso.
“When they said they have zoned the presidency to the North, I asked, “When was the meeting held?”
“Now we have zoned it to Igboland. In 2015, there will be a turnaround in the fortunes of Ndigbo.”
Recalling the suicide bombing at a school in Yobe State earlier on Monday, in which several students died, Okorocha said that the PDP had failed God.
He said Igbo had been neglected by President Goodluck Jonathan such that no Igbo man is currently occupying any prominent position in the country.
He also accused prominent Igbo PDP politicians of not caring about the well being of Igbo.
“They only know themselves; they don’t care about Igbo. APC is an emergency party for a new Nigeria; I would not have joined APC if PDP was doing well. We will defeat PDP in 2015,” he declared.
Okorocha stressed that he had the resources to realise his ambition, noting that he was richer than his rivals in the PDP.
He also presented two APC governorship aspirants in Enugu State, Dr. Ifeanyi Asogwa and Okey Ezea, to the crowd at the rally.
Addressing the two governorship aspirants as “excellencies in waiting,” Okorocha advised them to emulate his achievements in Imo State when anyone of them becomes the governor of Enugu State.
He urged the people of Enugu to vote the APC aspirants, whom he described as “my people in whom I am well pleased.”
A former governor of Anambra State, Senator Chris Ngige, and many other APC chieftains were at the event.

Lagos Gov. race: Tinubu lists ground rules for aspirants

LAGOS—All Progressives Congress, APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has listed the ground rules for all 13 aspirants for the governorship ticket of the party in Lagos State.

At a meeting with the aspirants alongside major party stakeholders in attendance Sunday night, Tinubu called for fair play from them even as he assured of a level playing ground in the contest to succeed outgoing governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola.
The aspirants present at the meeting included Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, Senator Ganiyu Solomon, Supo Sashore, Adeyemi Ikuforiji, Dr. Femi Hamzat among others.
Party stakeholders present at the meeting hosted by Tinubu at his Bourdillion, Ikoyi Lagos residence included former acting national chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande, state chairman of the party, Chief Henry Ajomale among others.

Tinubu who presided at the meeting, it was learnt, told the aspirants he was not personally involved with any of the candidates as has been previously reported even as he assured them of a level playing ground.

The meeting with aspirants is in the wake of what is being promised as a major challenge to Tinubu’s political dominance of the state from within and outside the party. A number of stakeholders have protested the alleged endorsement by major party officials.
The meeting lasted from 8.30 p.m. till about 10.00 pm, a source revealed.

“Asiwaju assured the aspirants that there will be primaries and that it would be open and transparent as he assured the aspirants to apply fair play in their campaigns,” the source revealed.
The APC leader also got a commitment from the aspirants to ensure that whoever loses does not rock the boat and that they should all back whoever emerges as candidate of the party.

Another source disclosed: “Our leaders advised us to take things easy. They promised to be fair to all of us. He (Tinubu) made it clear that there is no plan for consensus candidate.”

“But they asked us to work ahead of primaries. In fact, they all insisted on primaries and no suggestion of consensus candidate came up. Tinubu implored that whoever loses should take it in the spirit of sportsmanship, with the assurance that all will be given a level playing field.”

Following the Sunday night meeting, Tinubu had another meeting with only the aspirants yesterday during which he was understood to have reiterated the issues canvassed on Sunday night.

N5 billion recovered, 40 arrested over oil subsidy fraud— EFCC -

Enugu—Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde, yesterday, in Enugu, said the commission had cracked oil subsidy fraud in which over N5 billion had been recovered and more than 40 suspects arrested.

Lamorde, who disclosed this at a workshop on effective reporting of financial crimes organized by the commission for journalists in South-East zone, also said a couple had been arrested in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, for allegedly defrauding a new generation bank of N855 million.
Represented by the Deputy Director, Public Affairs Department, Mr. Osita Nwajah, the EFCC chairman said: “Cases abound in our offices across the six zones of the country.
“In the oil subsidy fraud being investigated by the commission, over N5 billion has been recovered, while more than 40 suspects are being prosecuted in court.
“In the pension fraud matter, the commission has secured one conviction and recovered property valued at over a billion naira.

“We need to pay attention to these cases. It is not only when a former governor is arrested that the media would be interested.
“As I speak, the commission is investigating a case of fraud in a new generation bank in Port Harcourt where a customer, working with his wife who is a staff of a new generation bank, defrauded the bank of N855 million.

“The suspect, one Ochenna Ogbonnaya Dike cashed in on system glitches to perpetuate the scam over a period of five months by transferring funds from the bank into accounts in the new generation bank.
“Other accomplices in the scam,” he went on, “are currently on the run. But EFCC will get them as we are determined to check all incidences of fraud in the banking sector.

“I urge you (media) to take greater interest in cases that are either being investigated or prosecuted by the commission.
“Where media interest in corruption cases fizzles out after arraignment is unhealthy.”

Talk About a Heavy Burden:

Woman Undergoes Breast Reduction After Her Bust Grows to an Unbelievable 36NNN!

Kerisha Mark couldn't take the pain anymore.
Faced with crippling migraines and non-stop muscle aches after her chest ballooned to an unbearable 36NNN, the 40-year-old elected to get a breast reduction following her diagnosis of gigantomastia.
The rare hormonal condition is diagnosed when a woman's breast weight exceeds three percent of her body weight, and Mark estimates her breasts weighed a staggering 15 pounds each.

"I could not run or jump or work out at all," the Beaumont, Texas, resident told ABC 13 news. "I was very limited in a lot of things I could do."
Gigantomastia typically affects one breast more than the other, causing asymmetry, and is believed to stem from a heightened sensitivity to female hormones prolactin, estrogen and progesterone.
"The breasts really hung down to her hips and were essentially like carrying around three basketballs at all times because they were so large," Mark's surgeon, Dr. Franklin Rose, told the station.

"When we went into the exam room — I don't know if I would use this word 'shocking', but it was certainly startling to see breasts of that magnitude."
After a three-hour operation, Dr. Rose removed around 15 pounds of breast tissue, leaving Mark with a "nice full" DD cup.
"When I stood up for the first time I felt so light," the school social worker revealed. "My first thing on the agenda is to purchase a beautiful bra and second is to buy a strapless dress."

Jonathan's Ambition Proves We Are The Best - PDP

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has today declared that they are the best party to lead the nation for the next four years as President Goodluck Jonathan is expected to announce his formal declaration of  entry into the 2015 presidential race.

PDP’ National Publicity Secretary Olisah Metuh in a statement described Jonathan entry as “an immeasurable boost on the collective aspiration of millions of members of the party for the greatness of Nigeria through the continuity of the quiet, all sector transformation of the nation.”

The statement signed by Metuh alleged that in four years Jonathan has done more than any other Nigerian leader ever.

He revealed that the unanimous endorsement of Mr. Jonathan for the PDP ticket meant that there is an overriding necessity for an unmitigated protection of the national interest against the backdrop of sectional and selfish machinations squirming from the ranks of opposition,” and was a case for a total support from all Nigerians and friends of Nigeria.

“Here, therefore, we re-present to Nigeria, a President who in 2011 promised “he would not win our affection by promises of things he would do “and has gone ahead to fulfill such through dynamic examples in humility, selflessness and re-engineering of the nation’s human and material infrastructures,” Metuh said.

“We present for re-election, the President who has achieved more in four years despite deliberate attempts to derail his focus, than any Nigerian leader, military or civilian has recorded in the same number of years”.

He explained that the ruling party was glad with the President’s work, he also praised the work of PDP governors all over the country.

It cited what it called “the sterling performance” of the PDP governors in Akwa Ibom and Jigawa states, where he said Governors Godswill Obot Akpabio and Sule Lamido have turned hitherto insignificant spots on the map of Nigeria into national and international destinations.

“In all these, we challenge the opposition to prove us wrong. We challenge that no Nigerian in good conscience will deny that the PDP has significantly taken the nation far away from the tethers of backwaters it was in fifteen years ago.

“We challenge that breaking away from the yoke of a pariah nation, from the stranglehold of a debtor nation- the noose of Paris club and the opening up of Nigeria via an uninterrupted 15 years of democracy, the fresh air of freedom, the rule of law, transparency and due process, the magic of modern information and communication technology and above all, the centripetal pull on the unity of the nation by the PDP as the only truly national political party do not deserve continuity.”

“Again, we state, we are the best. We hold the best and we represent the best.”

Adaeze Yobo "My Ego Almost Ended My Marriage"

In one of her Instagram posts, the ex-beauty queen says communication is key to marriage survival and that it has to be a two-way thing... not from the man alone.

Ex-Super Eagles defender Joseph Yobo's model wife gets in the news once again and this time, she is speaking out on how close she came to ending her own marriage after just two years.

Adaeze Yobo took to her instagram page, Saturday Nov. 8, to express how much she loves her family but also dishes advice on how to maintain a blissfull marriage especially for young couples.
According to an except posted by the ex-beauty queen, communication is key for marriage survival and it has to be a two-way thing... not from the man alone.
This reminded me so much of the first 2years of my marriage (when i had too much ego, it was all about me and what "I deserve") I will always randomly have in mind that my husband shld know "we gotta go out" i wld seat my ass down all the time and just get mad, I mean doesn't he know? I won't even tell him nonsense! It wasn't that i desperately wanted to go out cos most of the time, we did we had nothing to say to each other but my "i deserve mentality" my after all, i'm the woman" "the queen" mentality, was my motivating factor..."
Just texting or calling my hubby to say "hey babe, there is this restaurant that makes the best prawns (his fav?) let's casually go after yur training. Was what I shld hav said but here is what I actually said for 2 years, "Joe (which is what I call him wen am mad)? everybody went to that restaurant on that street and even last night this persons husband took her". Then he goes from 0-100 in like 2.2 secs and then my ego kicks in..."
(You don't want to know how fast I also went kuku)?and no one ends up eating? I always said to the pple that i complain to, "How dare he? just cos I want us to go out and have a nice dinner, don't i Deserve it eh"?

Anyway, the moral of this (long) story, is that when I changed from my "i deserve" mentality to "we deserve" slowly, the tables turned. Now he makes our date plan calender for a month? i lost out on seeing that soft amazing person he is for the first 2years cos I was always ready to fire, after all he Shld have read the manual before marriage? #ideservementalityistherootofallevil?#veryrandombutthoughttoshare #haveagreatweekendlovers?"
