Passport rule change that could stop you travelling to Europe this year

Changes have been made to the rules for anyone travelling from the UK to Europe since Brexit. And one rule in particular is causing havoc for many holiday-goers across the country. 
A set of new passport rules will impact anyone with a British passport taking a trip to Europe.

The changes have already ruined countless holidays since the UK left the EU. The rules state that British passport holders must follow the Schengen area requirements for trips to any EU country expect Ireland. Countries including Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino and Vatican City are also covered by the regulations.

Despite travelling continuing to be free for now, there is now potential for snags.

Since Brexit, passports must have been issued less than 10 years before the date of entry, reports The Mirror.

Before Brexit, travellers were required to have three months left on their passport after the day they plan to leave, but there are now extra requirements in place catching lots of holidaymakers out.

Anyone who turns up at the airport without a valid passport may be denied entry into EU countries. The issue date is written under the 'date of issue' headline on a British passport.
