Since the news of the judgment broke Abians and supporters of APGA have been celebrating – drinking and making wild merriment. Many, in such abandonment, have become “Father Christmas”, offering total strangers free dinks in beer parlours.
A Lagos-returnee, Frank Ekeh, narrated how he went into a restaurant on Ohafia Street to eat. “After eating half chicken part and consuming three bottles of cold beer, I wanted to pay and the owner of the eating joint told me that an excited customer had paid off the bill for everyone who came there to eat. All in celebration of the victory of Dr. Alex Otti at the appeal court. It is amazing, I didn’t know that someone like this Otti man that much”, he marveled.
Inside communities, people were shooting cannons, knockout and other types of fire-works in celebration of the victory.
Speaking to Saturday Sun, Rev Augustine Ehiemere, the State Chairman of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) said Otti victory at the Appeal Court is victory for democracy; victory for Abians who gave their mandate for Dr. Alex Otti. “It is also victory for restoration of Abia; victory for judiciary, because the judgment has made us have hope that the judiciary is the last hope of the common man.
“It has also given us hope that Abia will be better because the judgment given to our candidate, Otti, an agent of change, is hope for Abians. We are very happy and we appreciate the entire Abians for their support; for standing by the party and Dr. Otti.
“I was right there in the court and that judgment is going to stand the test of time any time any day and in any court of law anywhere in the world. We are not afraid, mark my word, if they go to the Supreme Court, their petition would be struck off because that judgment was given by erudite judges without fear or favour,” the chairman said.
