Barcelona winger Pedro has been told never to join Manchester United while manager Louis van Gaal is still in charge because the Dutch mentor is “mediocre” and is “destroying” the three-times European champions.
These were the views of former Barcelona star and Mamelodi Sundowns coach Hristo Stoichkov, who was commenting in an interview with a Spanish radio station Onda Cero this week, as per Express.
Stoichkov’s comments come amid media reports that the 28-year-old is poised to complete a £22 million move to Old Trafford having fallen down the pecking order at the Nou Camp behind South Americans Neymar, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
Stoichkov, who played under the orders of Van Gaal during his career at Barca, hardly featured for the Catalans under the Dutchman until he was sold in 1998.
"I would never be under the orders of Van Gaal. He's mediocre," Stoichkov told the station.
"He destroyed Barca and is destroying Man Utd. With what he has done to goalkeeper [Victor] Valdes he has shown he is a bad person. Hopefully Pedro listens to me and doesn't leave."
