Philani Ncube appeared before magistrate Stephen Ndlovu facing a domestic violence charge. He pleaded not guilty and was remanded out of custody.
It is the State's case that the 40-year-old Ncube went home at around 8pm on last week to accuse his 28-year-old wife Stella Khupe of denying him d0ggie-style sex.
"Ncube seized his wife by the throat and tied her to a tree. After that he beat thoroughly sjamboked her and she sustained severe cuts. As a result of the thorough beating, his wife was ferried to a nearby hospital for treatment and she is still being treated at the health institution," the court heard.
When he took to the stand, Ncube gave his reasons.
"I did that out of anger. My wife has been refusing to have sex with me for the past four months. I paid lobola to get sex from her. Your Worship, due to that denial I became very angry because she she doesn't answer her phone in my presence. At times she moves away or even hangs the phone call prematurely," he said.
The sex-starved man will be back in court for continuation of trial.
