A 32-year-old man, Adebisi Ademola has been arraigned in a Magistrate’s Court sitting at Iyaganku, Ibadan, for conducting himself in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace at Soka area of Ibadan, Oyo State.
Brought before Magistrate Munira Giwa-Babalola on Monday, July 6 in Court 9, Iyaganku, the charge against Ademola, with suit number MI/382C/2015, read: “That you Adebisi Ademola (32) and one other at large on June 28, 2015 at 9a.m. at Soka area, Ibadan, did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause the breach of the peace by unlawfully entering the house of one Yinka Ayoola of Soka area, Ibadan, and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 249 (d) of Criminal Code Cap 38 Volume 2 laws of Oyo State of Nigeria 2000”.
Information gathered by Crime Reports revealed that the defendant had gone to Mr Ayoola’s house in company of his friend, one Bimbo Olabiyi. It was learnt that Mr Ayoola suspected Olabiyi to be having an affair with his wife, Bolatito, after their seven-year-old son told his father of ‘another daddy’ that he had.
Dubai-based Ayoola was reported to have come home recently to see his wife and child but left for Lagos after an argument between the couple. Crime Reports further gathered that the man returned home on June 28 without notifying his wife, only to meet Olabiyi’s car parked in his privately-owned house. His son was said to have told him that Olabiyi slept in the same room with his mother.
According to information gathered, the wife vehemently denied any amorous relationship between her and Olabiyi, saying that they were just members of the same church. When asked about Olabiyi’s driver’s licence that was found in her bedroom, the woman claimed that Olabiyi gave her so that she could help him renew it.
Mr Ayoola was said to have lamented his wife’s alleged illicit affair despite all he had done to make her comfortable by opening a shop worth millions of naira for her at Gbagi market and buying her a car.
The couple’s young son was reported to have informed the police at Iyaganku where the case was reported that his biological father, Mr Ayoola was his daddy and Mr Olabiyi was “my another daddy”. The boy reportedly revealed how the man used to come to their house to sleep in the same room and the same bed with his mother whenever his father was not around.
But the woman in the midst of the controversy reportedly continued to proclaim her innocence, blaming her husband for her loneliness in Nigeria and saying that Olabiyi was only there to offer her assistance as a male whenever it was needed.
Ademola reportedly got into trouble because he used to follow Olabiyi to Ayoola’s residence.
Mr. Ayoola was said to have reported the case, saying that the action of Olabiyi and his friend could have led to breakdown of law and order if he had not decided to complain to law enforcement agents.
After the suspects were granted bail at the police station, both of them were said to have refused to honour police invitation for appearance, prompting the charging of the case to court when the police got Ademola. Olabiyi was yet to make an appearance at the police station as at the day the case was charged to court.
Speaking on behalf of the defendant in court, Barrister Echezona Ikwuebesi applied that he should be granted bail on the most liberal terms since he had no previous criminal record. The magistrate granted the bail application in the sum of N100,000 and one surety.
She said that the surety must be resident within the jurisdiction of the court and must present the photocopy of his worker’s identification card, adding that the address of the surety must be verified by the prosecutor. The case was adjourned to July 30, 2015.
