An elderly man has died of heat exhaustion along with his dog after they both became trapped in a car.
James Rogers, 72, became trapped in his Covette after the battery failed and he was unable to open the electric doors or windows.
He wasn’t even able to operate the horn on the car, and due to the strong Texas heat he perished along with his dog Leia.
The Corvette did have a manual release button in case such a situation occurs, however Mr Rogers was apparently unaware of it.
In a tragic coincidence James had left his phone in the restaurant he was visiting, meaning he was unable to call for help.
It was four hours before staff discovered him and called the police, as temperatures climbed as high as 32.2C outside.
By the time firefighters arrived to try and free him Mr Rogers and his dog were both dead.
Several people on Corvette forums have shared stories about being locked in their cars.
