Housewife, 38, Sentenced To Death By Hanging For Killing Son

For strangling to death her husbands’ second wife’s son, a 38 year-old housewife, Mrs Ternenge Tersoo, has been sentenced to death by hanging.

The judge of a Makurdi High court, Justice Jennifer Ijohor, who delivered the judgement stated yesterday that evidence before the court showed that the prosecution has proved the case beyond reasonable doubt which warranted conviction of the convict.

The husband of the convict, Mr. Tersoo had in 2012 reported to the police that his wife snatched the baby from his nanny and strangled him to death.

It was further gathered that Mrs. Tersoo, the culprit, is the first wife of the husband and has never given birth. She had promised to do the condemnable after the husband married a second wife.

The police Prosecution told the court that two witnesses, including the Investigating police officer, confirmed the incident. It tendered a medical report of the autopsy carried out on the deceased baby at the General hospital, Vandeikya, which confirmed the death.

But when the case came up, the woman emphatically denied the allegation, testified for herself but did not call any witness to support her claim.

However, the judge, Mrs. Ijohor advised barren women to look up to God instead of engaging in nefarious acts and directed that the woman be taken to the federal minimum prisons Makurdi where she is awaiting death by hanging.
