A new mother accused the doctor who delivered her baby of accidentally dropping his cell phone inside her during the delivery.
Daily Mail reports Hanan Mahmoud Abdul Karim, 36, gave birth to a healthy baby boy via Caesarean section on April 24.
She reportedly wasn’t experiencing any medical complications when she left the private hospital.
At some point afterward, however, her family members claim they saw Karim’s stomach vibrating.
Karim’s mother told Jordanian media,
My daughter suffered serious pains and could not move. I brought her back to the hospital where she was treated but nothing was done for her.
She was then taken to a different hospital to undergo X-rays on her abdomen.
A foreign but unspecified object was found.
Karim’s mother claims a speedy procedure was conducted to extract the object from her daughter’s body.
A spokesman from the Jordanian Health Ministry called the case “baseless” and “fabricated.”
But parliament member Salim Al Bataynah was so appalled, he suggested government officials give up their jobs to show respect for the woman’s suffering.
He reportedly said,
In countries which show respect to their nations, and following such scandals, governments usually resign. The parliament should show responsibility and be on the level of the case.
It isn’t clear if any action was taken since the case went public, but the Jordanian Health Ministry is reportedly paying close attention as the story unravels.
