A young Nigerian identified as Oladele John Nihi, from Kogi state has made known on social media his intention to trek from Abuja to Otuoke, the hometown of President Goodluck Jonathan to celebrate him (Jonathan) as the hero of democracy and welcome him back home.
He is documenting his trek, posting pictures on social media as he progresses.
According to him:
“So I can contribute my quota in the cleaning of Mr President’s house and participate in welcoming him back home.”Nihi, who started his journey, Monday, at 6:00am local time said that he chose to celebrate Jonathan for sustaining democracy and keeping to his promise of free, fair and transparent electionin the country.
He stressed that the president who lost the election to Maj.Gen. Muhammadu Buhari deserve more than a walk or trek for ensuring that “no blood of any Nigerian is worth his ambition”.
The trekker promised to keep Nigerians and the world updated about his journey with hashtag: #TrekForGEJ.
He says his goal is to get to Otuoke between 24th and 28th May.
Abuja to Otuoke is 678.7 km (8 h 54 min drive).
