Teenage thug attacked paramedic after he was caught trying to have sex in ambulance meant for sick pensioner

Behind bars: Kyle Hargreaves was jailed for more than two years

A teenage thug attacked a paramedic after he was caught trying to have sex with a girl in the back of an ambulance that had been called for an unwell 92-year-old man.

Shameless Kyle Hargreaves punched the ambulance worker in the face three times after he was told to get out of the vehicle, snarling: “What’s your problem? We are just trying to have sex.”

Grimsby Crown Court heard how paramedic Michael Newman had parked the ambulance outside a house in Dixon Avenue, Grimsby, after being called to the home of a pensioner suffering chest pains.

The crew were inside the home treating the man, but had left the back doors of the vehicle open after taking out a carry chair.

As they returned - carrying the 92-year-old man - they were stunned to discover the 18-year-old thug lying on a stretcher kissing a girl who was on top of him.

Although the pair were not having sex, Hargreaves got violent and claimed they were trying to when he was asked to leave at around 10.15pm on February 15 this year.

He then punched Mr Newman in the face three times - all while the paramedic was still holding the pensioner up in a carry chair, the court heard.

The crew pushed a panic button and police arrived shortly after and arrested the thug, who was held down by the paramedics.

A separate crew then arrived to take the pensioner to hospital, while Mr Newman was treated for a black eye, a cut to his nose and a nose bleed.

Emergency call: The paramedics had been attending a call-out in Dixon Avenue, Grimsby

Hargreaves was locked up for a total of two years and eight months.

A spokesman for East Midlands Ambulance Service, said: “This was a disgraceful act, not only to attack an emergency ambulance crew while they were engaged on their duties and were trying to look after a patient, but it was also completely selfish and completely irresponsible because of what they were trying to use the ambulance for.”
