Otti petitions IG over threat to life

                                                                      Alex Otti
The Abia State governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, Dr. Alex Otti, has petitioned the Inspector General of Police over alleged threat to his life.
In an open letter addressed to the IG, Suleiman Abba, and obtained by The PUNCH in Umuahia, on Tuesday, Otti’s campaign organisation alleged that some elements “consider Otti a serious threat that must be eliminated by all means.”

The document which was signed by the organisation’s Director of Special Duties, Chief Nwaka Inem, alleged that the same people “have turned the governorship election in Abia State into a war without cause and the life of our candidate is now under grave threat.”

The letter read in part, “Just recently a House of Representatives candidate alleged that he was shot several times by unknown gunmen attached to the convoy of Dr. Alex Otti. This wicked allegation, sir, is designed to heat up the polity and consequently create a fertile ground for violent attacks on APGA and our candidate.
“We want to state categorically here that Dr. Otti, as a peace-loving man, has never been linked in any way with violence, so, one wonders how on earth he will authorise the shooting of the lawmaker when they have nothing in contention at all levels, be it politically or economically.

“APGA is very worried that this is a scheme invented to soften the ground for a fresh attack on our candidate under the cover of a phantom reprisal. We have received an information that the grand plan is to attack our candidate and burn his house.”
