Thursday, 27th January, 2022 will always be remembered by Ndi Anambra and lovers of South East Nigeria development.   On this day, Airpeace Airlines, owned by Anambra- born Chief Allen Onyema landed a Boeing Embraer 195 E2 aircraft at Anambra International Cargo and Passenger Airport, Umueri.





The airline and United Nigeria airline, also owned by Anambra -born High Chief Dr. Obiora Okonkwo have been operating small aircraft into and out of the airport in line with regulatory approval.






However, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) had in a letter to Governor Willie Obiano dated 24th January, 2022 given its approval for the airport to operate Boeing 737-700 aircraft or its equivalent.

Anambra state Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, accompanied by some members of the state executive council and other guests was on hand to witness the history making landing, and excitedly shook the hands of the passengers as they alighted from the aircraft.

Mr Anselm Tabansi, a Lagos based businessman who was on the flight praised Governor Willie Obiano for his determination and successful delivery of the airport, saying that it has made life a lot easier especially for regular visitors to the state. “The airport made me proud to be from Anambra state. It will boost social and economic activities in the state”, Mr Tabansi concluded.
