Why naira is on a free fall, by Emefiele



The Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele has explained why the Naira is on a free fall.

He said the country’s currency depreciated against the Dollar because the nation has nothing to export except oil.

Emefiele disclosed this during a career talk organised for the teenagers of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) at TEAP school, Abuja.

A total of 549 tons of used clothing being smuggled from Hong Kong to Shenzhen in China has been seized by the police. The goods are worth about US$1.65 million, according to the police. Most of the clothing were collected from overseas morgues, garbage dumps and scrap yards, and would have been sold to consumers after washed and repaired.

A 23-year-old young mother simply identified as Wu, has reportedly terminated her 6-months pregnancy after finding out she was carrying a mermaid-like foetus in her womb when she was examined by doctors in Yichang City, in Central China's Hubei Province.

According to a shocking report by Dailymail, the lady's scans showed that her unborn child did not have two legs, but instead had a 'tail' like growth, and also did not have a bladder and had a stunted liver.

22-year-old boy jailed for stealing groundnut oil


An Egor Magistrate Court in Edo State has handed a two-year jail term to a 22-year old man, Evans Ewansesehia for stealing three gallons of groundnut oil.

Police prosecutor, Sergeant Sunday Lucky, told the court that the convict committed the offence on November 17, 2015 at Idemudia Street, off Lagos Street in Egor local government of the state.

According to CrossRiverWatch the woman identified as Monica dumped the baby at about 2:30 PM Thursday, last week with some clothes left at the Altar after the district Reverend of the church, Francis Agianpuye had given her N1,000 some days earlier.

A middle-aged man, Simon Akor, has told a Nyanya Customary Court, Abuja, that his wife, Patricia, demands money before allowing him to make love to her. Simon said this when he testified in a divorce petition against his wife on Tuesday.

“My wife always says I must give her money before I enter inside her buttocks, sometimes when I have money, I give her. “Whenever am angry about it and talk to her about it, she will say that all her friends collect money from their husbands before their husbands can get into them,” he claimed.

Hulk Hogan Settles $140m Case Over Leaked Sex Tape As Pay Out Makes Media Company Bankrupt



HULK Hogan is in talks to reach a settlement for his leaked sex tape.

The former wrestling champion is set to bag a whopping $140m, which is the equivalent of around £97m.
Hulk – whose real name is Terry Bollea – had originally sued for $100m but this was bumped up an extra $15m after a jury decide it wasn’t enough.

A machete-wielding man shouting "Allahu akbar" (God is the greatest) wounded two policewomen in the southern Belgian city of Charleroi on Saturday before being shot and injured, local police said.

One of the policewomen was taken to hospital with "deep wounds to the face" while the other was slightly injured, Belga news agency said.

There are around 60 women in the village with hair three feet long with one villager's locks measuring seven feet long.

Huangluo village in Guangxi province is home to the Yao ethnicity which is characterised by their red embroidered dresses and their long hair.

CBN resumes dollar sales to BDCs today



The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) will today resume dollar sales to Bureaux De Change (BDCs) seven months after it stopped the practice.

It stopped the sales last January because of what it called dollar scarcity and abuse of operating guidelines.

Speaking to The Nation yesterday, Aminu Gwadabe, Association of Bureau De Change Operators of Nigeria (ABCON) President, said nearly 3,000 BDCs are expected to access dollar from the CBN today.

Igbo traders protest murder of colleague


Commercial activities were paralysed in Kano yesterday as Igbo traders across the 44 local government areas of the state shut their shops.

The traders’ action was to protest the alleged killing of Augustine Tochukwu Ilo, 42, a patent medicine dealer, by men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

CBN Tells Banks To Accept Cheques For Savings Accounts


The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) yesterday directed banks and other financial institution to allow customers operating savings accounts to lodge in cheques.

CBN Director, Banking and Payment System Department, ‘Dipo Fatokun, who disclosed this in a circular, said savings account customers with Bank Verification Number (BVN) should be allowed to deposit cheques not more than N2 million in value into their accounts, per customer per day.

Man hospitalised after waiting 10 days in Chinese airport for online girlfriend


A Dutch man who flew to China to meet a woman he met online has had to be treated in hospital with exhaustion after waiting at the airport for 10 days.

Alexander Peter Cirk, 41, refused to leave Changsha Huanghua International airport in Hunan after his online girlfriend, known as Zhang, failed to turn up.

Mr Cirk was eventually taken to the hospital suffering from physical exhaustion, according to Hunan TV.

Kogi jailbreak: Six escaped prisoners rearrested



The Controller-General of Prisons, Ja’afaru Ahmed, has announced that six out of the 13 prisoners that escaped from the Koton-Karfe prison in Kogi State have been rearrested.

Ahmed noted that the six pre-trial detainees were recaptured with the assistance of other security agencies and local vigilante groups.

CBN begins enforcement of dollar sales to BDCs



To increase the volume of dollar in the market and stabilise the naira, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) may compel banks to sell foreign currency proceeds of international money transfers to Bureaux De Change (BDCs).

The CBN is likely to begin the enforcement of its directive to that effect soon, it was learnt yesterday.
