Google removes Afghan Taliban smartphone app



Google has removed a Taliban smartphone app from its online store, the US Internet giant said Monday, countering the tech-savvy Afghan militant group's increasing efforts to boost global visibility.

The Taliban launched their foray into smartphone apps on Friday with a Pashto language app called "Alemarah", giving access to propaganda statements and videos.

North Korea has fired at least one ballistic missile into the sea as it ramped up its defiance of tough UN and US sanctions. The weapon, believed to be a medium-range Rodong-missile, flew about 800 km (500 miles) before hitting the sea off its east coast, South Korean military reported.

Police rescue three stolen Bauchi girls



Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have rescued three teenage girls, who were abducted in Bauchi State and forcefully converted to Islam.

The Prison Inmate Development Initiative, a non-governmental organisation, handling the matter, told one of our correspondents that the girls were handed over to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 12, Bauchi, Mr. Tunde Ogunsakin, on Tuesday, by the Shari’ah Commission in the state.

TB Joshua Assists Nigerians Deported from Libya with N4m


Thirty-nine of the reported 172 Nigerians who were deported from Libya on Friday 11th March 2016 were received by Pastor T.B. Joshua of The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) during his church service on Sunday 13th March.

According to a post on the church’s official Facebook page, the deportees were each given the sum of N100,000 by Joshua, who is well known for his charitable gestures.

Fidelis Onos, who spoke on behalf of the group, said that most of them had been imprisoned for up to one year in Libya after they were suddenly arrested.

EFCC Traces N3bn Transfers to Fani-Kayode, Falae, Others

                          

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has traced N3.145bn transferred to the private accounts of some members of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation.

According to detectives at the EFCC, the money emanated from the account of the Central Bank of Nigeria and was transferred to the account of a company, Joint Dimensions Limited, and then sent to various accounts.

Ex-Soldier Who Killed Girlfriend Over Text Messages, Other Criminals,Paraded By Police

       

An ex-soldier, identified as Sunday Umaru, has been arrested by the Plateau State Police Command for killing his girlfriend after he saw some text messages on her phone.

Sunday, who served in the 3rd Armoured Division of the Nigerian Army, but attached to Sector 7 of Operation Save Haven, Jos (OPSH), was alleged to have stabbed  his lover,  Charity Thomas, in the stomach in the Riyom Local Government Area, which led to her death

It was gathered that the soldier was dismissed by the army for the action and handed over to the police for prosecution.

South China’s city of Shenzhen plans to build three waste incineration power plants in the next three years. One of them will be the world’s largest, which is able to dispose 5000 tonnes of garbage daily.

According to Wang Guobin, the director of Shenzhen City Urban Administrative and Law Enforcement Bureau, the biggest plant alone can handle one third of Shenzhen’s garbage and will be put into use in 2018.

Thirty-two-year-old Mata was married to a lawyer, Sunday Jidonu, for whom she had three children.

China seeks more crude oil export from Nigeria



China has said it seeks more crude oil exports from Nigeria in spite of the recent changes in oil prices.

Mr Zao LingXiang, Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.
``But the total amount of export to China was only about one million barrels in 2015 that was just 1.3 per cent of Nigerian annual oil export.

WATCH: Driver intentionally knocks over delivery man in racial attack


A video showing a white man in a bakkie intentionally knocking down a black pizza delivery man on a motorcycle whom he refers to among other things as “a one pizza k****r” – and recording it - is causing a major stir on the social media.The incident appears to happen as they are pulling away from a traffic light both turning right.


The video footage posted on Facebook shows the delivery man lying on the tarred road after he is struck by the vehicle.

Christian Willoughby posted a Yelp-style review of the Grimsby Police Station after getting locked up for what he described as a “misdemeanor” on a March 9 Facebook post.
