President Muhammadu Buhari has demoted top civil servants who tampered with figures in the 2016 budget.

Vanguard reports that at least 184 top officials were transferred to lesser establishments over the budget padding saga.

Mechanic kills friend for urinating near shop



The park of the Association of Maritime Truck Owners in the Berger, Mile 2 area of Lagos was in turmoil on Wednesday after a mechanic, identified only as Oshare, reportedly stabbed his friend to death and injured several others.

PUNCH Metro learnt that trouble started in the park around 11am on Tuesday between Oshare and the friend, identified as Rasta, after he (Rasta) allegedly urinated beside a stationary truck.

A South African woman has been found guilty of kidnapping a two-day-old baby in 1997. Police accused her of fraudulently claiming to be the girl's biological mother since snatching her from a hospital in Cape Town.

The 50-year-old woman was arrested last year after suspicions were raised when there was a similar-looking girl at the child's school.

DNA tests then proved that the two girls were sisters, police said.

House Insists N1.04tn MTN Fine Must be Paid in Full

The House of Represen-tatives Committee on Telecommunications is insisting that the initial N1.04 trillion fine imposed on MTN Communications Nigeria Limited for failing to disconnect 5.2 million unregistered subscribers on its network must be paid in full, instead of the reduced penalty of N780 billion.

The Nigerian Communica-tions Commission (NCC) slapped the N1.04 trillion fine on MTN last October, but later reduced it to N780 billion and gave the network provider till December 31, 2015 to pay up after the company had pleaded for leniency.

When the charge was read to him, Tarfa pleaded not guilty.

I kidnapped my neice to extort money from my stingy uncle – Suspect



One Chima John, 37, was on Tuesday paraded at the Oyo State Police Command for allegedly kidnapping his 13-year-old niece.

John, who has been in the custody of the police, confessed before journalists that he abducted his niece, Ijeoma, to get to his uncle whom he described as stingy.
