The newly crowned Olu of Warri Has reconfirmed the title of the Akulagba of Warri on Chief Ayiri Emami. 

The reconfirmation is a process that all Chiefs under the Olu must go through to legitimize their title as a symbol of a new era.

Why Okezie Ikpeazu Lost Abia Governorship At Appeal Court


The Court of Appeal, sitting in Owerri, has removed Okezie Ikpeazu of the Peoples Democratic Party as governor of Abia State.

The court also declared Alex Otti of the All Progressives Grand Alliance the winner of the April 11 and April 25 supplementary elections in the state.

Delivering judgment in an appeal filed by Mr. Otti, the five-member panel, headed by Justice Oyebisi Omoleye, said the APGA candidate scored 164, 444 valid votes to defeat Mr. Ikpeazu who scored 114, 444 votes.

Jackie VanTyle was charged Monday with a pair of misdemeanor criminal mischief counts for the alleged urine attack on the property in Lynn, a town about 80 miles east of Indianapolis.

According to court records, victim Joseph Basler contacted police two months ago to report suspicions that VanTyle had been dousing his home’s exterior with urine.

Gunmen abduct Uyo pastor, demand N50m


A Uyo-based clergyman, Rev. Friday Phillip, has been kidnapped in his native Oron council area of Akwa Ibom State and his abductors have demanded a N50 million ransom for his release.
Daily Sun investigation revealed that Rev. Phillip, a former superintendent of the Assembly of God Church, Eket District, was abducted along Ibo Street, Oron, at about 8.30 pm on Sunday.

Soldier, others arrested for selling weapons to robbers


A serving Lance Corporal in the Nigerian Army, Emmanuel Ebo, and seven others have been arrested for allegedly selling ammunition to a notorious gang of armed robbers which attacked banks in Lagos and Ogun states.

US opts to buy Nigeria’s crude, says Kachikwu



Minister of State for Petroleum Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachukwu has raised Nigerians’ hope about the dwindling oil revenue, with the news that the United States will now buy some crude from Nigeria.

“Post the President’s visit, there has been an overture from them to say they want to buy limited quantity of Nigerian oil to support the market. We are still ongoing on that,” he said.

Kachikwu allayed fears over the return of the U.S. to oil export, stressing that the country’s sale of oil does not foreclose its tendency to buy crude at the same time.

South Korea, Japan agree to irreversibly end WWII s*x slave row


 South Korea and Japan reached a landmark agreement on Monday to resolve the issue of "comfort women", as those who were forced to work in Japan's wartime brothels were euphemistically known, which has long plagued ties between the neighbours.
