Identical BEARDED Twin Stragners Meet On Plane
A BEARDED bloke found his doppelgänger when he sat next to him on a plane – and later checked into the SAME hotel.
Neil Douglas was shocked when he sat down next to his double on a flight from Stansted to Galway
The ginger-bearded bloke and his twin stranger – a mystery Londoner – noticed their uncanny likeliness immediately.
Delighted at finding each other, the cheery duo took a grinning selfie, which was posted on social media by Lee Beattie – a friend of Neil's wife.
She tweeted: "Guy on right is the husband of my friend. Guy on left is a STRANGER he met on a flight last night!"
She later added: "I can't stop looking at it. They are the same man."
Rocking exactly the same hair colour and facial features, the men could pass as identical twins. Yet they are not related in any way – and it's blowing our tiny minds.
The image, which was posted on Twitter five hours ago, has already been retweeted nearly two thousand times.
And Lee's followers have also commented on the striking resemblance with a series of jokes and Parent Trap gifs.
To make matters even more freaky, the lookalikes then found a third man who resembles them on the plane.
But the story doesn't end there. The 32-year-old from Glasgow and his mystery carbon copy then bumped into each other again when they both checked into the Jury's Inn Hotel in Galway.
The picture on the plane shows the two complete strangers with stunning similarities. But a later snap, of the pair having a pint in the Irish city, reveals one key difference – their height.
The photo shows Neil's doppelgänger towering over him, as they both hold their beers and smile at the camera.
Neil said: "It happened yesterday, I work as a photographer so flew down to shoot a wedding in Galway.
"The funny thing is I went down to get my seat and he was actually sitting in it.
"I'm sure I said something along the lines of 'Hey brother' .
"He ended up sitting right next to me. It was all good fun. We had a laugh about it so I had to take the photo."

Na Who Say Ashawo No Be Work?
Victoria Nwogu
While visiting home in August this year, my family enjoyed the privilege of an invitation to spend a night at a private beach house on Takwa Bay. One of the attractions our host had planned for us was to wait until the cool of the night, then take each of us on horseback to a long strip of beach at the Northern point of his expansive estate. There we observed the power of the waves as they hit the beach at full tide and listened, awed by their roar. Oh my, how those waves roared. Magical! That night and the day preceding it was the stuff of dreams, but that is not today’s story.
From that beach, one could also see the lights from a ‘city of ships’ just a few kilometres off into the distance. As those lights twinkled magically, a dark picture clouded my brow. Never mind that I had not seen this picture previously in real life but the description I had heard was vivid enough to let my imagination do the rest. It was a picture of a woman; a dead woman washed ashore from one of such ships. A woman denied the dignity of a burial by the circumstances of her death but also by us, her people. As her body washed ashore, communities living along the coast would find a sturdy object – God forbid they should desecrate themselves by touching her – and push the corpse back into the ocean. As many times as this woman made an appearance, they were ready to send her back to the waiting throat of the ocean. In my vision, this woman was beautiful. From whatever was left of the caresses of the ocean on her prone form, one could see her hair was styled in the fashion of the day. Her nails were marvelously lacquered in neon acrylic. Whatever was left of the clothes she died in portrayed a woman at peace with her femininity; after all it was the tool of her trade. But at this point, my vision could go no further.
Who was this woman? She was a sex worker aka Ashawo, procured by some clandestine means for some sailor – or two, or more – somewhere in that city of ships. The story I heard is it that she had ran afoul of her client for some reason and given that her procurement was clandestine, given that she had no one to speak in her defence, given that she was literally on her client’s own turf, the only way to settle the rift was to push her into the ocean to swim or die. She died. She died because of our hypocrisy.
I’ve heard it said often that prostitution is the oldest profession in the Bible. I disagree with 50% of that statement. The oldest profession in the Bible is farming (Genesis 3: 17). I agree however, that sex work was a profession in the Bible. Let’s look at this from the Bible itself, shall we? In Genesis 38, we see the patriarch, Judah, turn aside at the sight of a ‘veiled woman’ whom he imagined to be a sex worker and propositioned her. This verse addresses an interesting stereotype: veiling does not necessarily connote chastity. So dire was Judah’s sexual need that in the face of his empty pockets, he entrusted the woman with his signet ring, his cord and the staff in his hand, essentially handing over every symbol of his male authority to – God forbid! – a sex worker. I may surmise from that transaction that this profession was not entirely absent from Jewish society of biblical times. In Joshua chapter 6, we encounter Rahab. Two scouts sent on very important business, a matter that bordered on the very survival of the nation of Israel ended up seeking refuge in the home of a sex worker. If they were sanctimonious about such things, they might as well have rented a room in an inn. In the end, Rahab and her entire household were saved. The verse even mentions her father. Hold on! She had a father? There’s even mention of a household; a family that likely depended on her earnings. Let’s keep reading. In 1 Kings 3: 16 – 28, it took adjudication of a dispute between two sex workers to establish Solomon’s wisdom to the ends of the earth. Imagine that these women could boldly come into the presence of the King to seek justice. Just imagine that for a moment. Wise King Solomon welcomed and listened to sex workers. Sanctimonious Police officers today would blame them for their plight, shoo them out of their sight and allow their abusers go scot free. Finally, in John 4: 6 – 30, Jesus at the well of Samaria, first asked for water from a woman we may describe today as a sex worker BEFORE offering her the eternal water of life. After that encounter, she went and summoned the whole village to meet him. If she could boldly summon the whole village and they responded to her call, she was no outcast in that community.
Reading these and a number of other scriptures, it is clear that this generation is way more hypocritical than our forebears. To be sure, the Bible does not encourage sex work. It is clearly labelled a sin and reflected as degrading and filthy activity. In fact, the earnings of sex workers should not be brought into the house of God. However, the Bible also recognizes that sex workers are daughters, sisters, mothers, even wives. They were part of society, loving and being loved by their families. It appears by all accounts in the Bible that society accepted their existence and left them well alone. In the present day, that would mean access to health care services, freedom from discrimination on the basis of their profession, decriminalisation of sex work, access to social and financial services and protection from violence. If government will look the other way when sex happens between two consenting adults, why does it take umbrage at transfer of compensation for a sexual act?
I am of the opinion that in our highly moralistic African societies sex work may not be a choice for many. It is often a matter of last resort, an act of survival. However, the people who point fingers at sex workers often have questionable moral characters themselves. On the scale of wrong doing, corruption has cost Nigeria and Africa more destruction than sex work ever could. Yet, the corrupt ones in society sit in judgement and cast stones at sex workers. The situation of sex workers is even more compounded because majority of them are women. In a world where women’s rights are proscribed in favour of male privilege and convenience, sex workers have found themselves at the very bottom of the ladder. Whilst they live with constant threats of violence and other human rights abuses from pimps and clients, the Police perpetually hound and harass them, dismiss their complaints of wrong-doing and extort sex from them as part of the perks of night patrol.
Listen up world, the very existence of sex work and sex workers points to a need or demand for their services. Why do we point fingers of accusation at sex workers and deny that their clients even exist? Believe it or not their clients are your brothers, fathers, sons and husbands. Men, YOU are their clients. Why are you less culpable than they? In Jesus’ times, he was notoriously criticised for eating and drinking with sex workers and tax collectors. He did not approve of their profession but He lovingly embraced and called them to repentance (John 8: 3-11; Luke 7: 36 – 50). If you ask me, it is not the job of government to intervene in sex work; except to ensure they enjoy the human rights to which all human beings are entitled. It is the job of you and me to show them love and help them transform their lives if they so wish.
So, what triggered this reflection? The woman, murdered in the city of ships has haunted my mind since I first heard her story. I heard she was not the only one. Residents of the coastlines of Lagos had seen -and pushed back into the sea – many like her. Driving to work in Nairobi, two days ago, I listened to a news story of sex workers in Nakuru County of Kenya, protesting to secure protection for their members – as humans and as citizens of Kenya. On average 46 of their members are murdered nationwide in a given year but in the past week alone, six of them had been murdered in Nakuru alone, by unknown persons. In Nigeria, a study conducted in 2014 found that 52% of sex workers had experienced some form of violence from pimps, clients and even law enforcement. World over, the threat of violence from people who believe their lives are dispensable, is a daily reality for sex workers.
Sex work may be unimaginable for some, not permissible in some of our societies and totally reprehensible by religious standards but the fact that a woman is a sex worker does not mean she has placed her life in ‘your’ hands. It does not mean that the she has divested herself of all her human rights. It does not mean that the church and state should turn their backs on her.
In Matthew 21: 31 – 32, Jesus Christ said, “I tell you the truth, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you. For John came to you to show you the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes did. And even after you saw this, you did not repent and believe him.”
Dear world, if you really value your daughters and wish to intervene in any way in sex work, please take the log of hypocrisy out of your eyes first- Culled/Credit: sabinews.com

LIVERPOOL TROUBLE FOR CHELSEA
Coach Jurgen Klopp will no doubt be seeking his first Premiership victory at the expense of Chelsea who are rooted 15 position on the log. Last weekend Chelsea suffered a fifth Premier League defeat of the season at West Ham United while Liverpool, who have drawn all three games since Klopp’s appointment are looking forward to a win.
The season has been one of the worst for Mourinho who is under immense pressure to get results.
Already waiting in the wings is a former Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink who has made his intention known that he wants another sitint with the blues.
In fact, he has refused to rule out the possibility of returning to Chelsea if Jose Mourinho leaves Stamford Bridge.
The Dutchman managed Chelsea on a temporary basis in 2009, winning the FA Cup, and is currently without a job after resigning from the Holland job during their ill-fated bid to reach Euro 2016.
Mourinho is under increasing pressure following a poor start to the season that has seen five Premier League defeats and an early exit from the Capital One Cup.
Another poor result in Saturday’s league match with Liverpool could see Mourinho’s second spell at the club come to an end, with Hiddink and Carlo Ancelotti among the names in the frame to replace him.
And asked by Voetbal International whether he would be interested, Hiddink said: ‘Top class football is always attractive. I’ve had some offers come my way recently, but there were no jobs I wanted to get in to right away.
‘We’ll see, we just have to wait now.’
Hiddink, 68, arrived at Stamford Bridge in February 2009 following the sacking of Brazilian Luiz Felipe Scolari. He stabilised the club, leading them to a third-place finish in the Premier League, the semi-finals of the Champions League and the FA Cup final, where they beat Everton 2-1.
Kano Boys College Shut Down Over Incidents Of Rape and Sodomy
In the heels of the uproar generated by alleged case of sodomy and rape that occured at Hassan Ibrahim Gwarzo private boarding School, Kano, the state Government has closed down the college to defuse tension.
Governor of the state, Professor Hafiz Abubakar further announced a 14 member committee under the leadership of Professor Abubakar Mustapha to investigate the allegations and turn in their report within two weeks.
There was panic among Guardian and Parents of Hassan Ibrahim Gwarzo private Boarding school yesterday following a heart touching story aired by private radio station on alleged rampant cases of sodomy in the college in which a 9 year JSS student of the college claimed he was overpowered and sexually violated by unknown person. A Nigerian also took to social media to highlight the plight of the victims, stating that one of the victims of the alleged rape was still unable to sit or walk properly.
Similarly, the police in Kano has also launched a full blown criminal inquest to unravel the mystery sorrounding the sexual assault in the boarding school which is an all boys college..
The Public Relations officer, Kano Police Command told Reporters in Kano Friday that one of the victim was receiving treatment at Abdullahi Wase Specialist Hospital, Vanguard reports.
Homeless grandma: Lagos govt steps in
A glimpse of hope has finally beamed its light on the plight of 68-year-old homeless grandma, Mrs Kehinde Oseni and her family as the Lagos State government through the Ministry of Justice’s Public Advice Centre (PAC) has stepped in to offer her succour.
Saturday Sun had broken the story on Mrs. Kehinde’s plight. For about two years, the casual worker with Igbosere Local Council Development Area, her adult daughter and five grandchildren were living in a danfobus after she was thrown out of a church building and later her family house.
After our first publication, her employer, Igbosere Local Council Development Area, who owns the bus, abandoned on Freeman Street, Igbosere area of Lagos Island, sent her out of her bus ‘apartment’ and sealed the temporary shelter with a white and red tape, thus barring Oseni from moving near. Since then, they have been sleeping in any available open space on the street while the kids cannot also enroll in any school because of fees while they follow her to parties to wash plates as their own means of feeding. Oseni had lost her husband some 11 years ago.
Nevertheless, all hopes lost might soon be restored as she and her daughter, Amina were on Monday invited by PAC to the Lagos State government secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja for possible help and general counsel.
PAC is a Department of the Lagos State Ministry of Justice that provides Lagosians easy access to information concerning violation of human rights, social exclusion and discrimination, social welfare and child rights, among others.
Though, Mrs. Oseni was advised to file a law suit against her employers concerning violation of her fundamental human rights, she chose not to.
In her words: “On Saturday last week, when I was contacted, I was asked to come to Alausa to make entry, which I did. The lawyer asked me to fill a form for complaint against my employers. I rejected that without a second thought. All I want is help. I don’t want to create an enmity between myself and anybody, not even my employers. I just want shelter for myself and my family, something to do in order to cater for them.”
She added that all she wants is for her grandchildren to go to school and have a normal life like other children on the street who have safe places to sleep at night and school to go to in the morning.
“What my employers did to me and my children is something I don’t want to discuss with anyone. I don’t want to file any suit against them. I rejected the suit advice because it might affect my job later. All I want is a chance for my grandchildren to have a normal life; go to school and sleep in a safe place at night,” she added.
Even as hope seems to be on her way, Mrs Oseni could not stop the flow of tears down her cheek, as she stated that she could not remember the last time she slept in a proper apartment under lock and key.
“I will be very grateful if they finally get me the help they assured. Would you believe me if I tell you that I can’t remember the last time I slept in a room that has a key and a closed window? Though they said that there are still some bureaucratic processes involved. Within my heart, I am already glad that there is now hope as I had lost hope a long time ago,” she stated.
A source in PAC that pleaded anonymity confirmed that Mrs. Oseni was actually contacted but declined giving further details.
Police nab 2 for robbing hotel in Aba
Two suspected members of a five-man robbery gang terrorizing Aba and environs have been arrested by the Mobile Police Force, MOPOL 55, for allegedly robbing workers and customers of a hotel located at the city. The suspects identified as Chikadibia Orji, Ifeanyi Clement alias ‘Don’ and others still at large were accused of taking advantage of power outage during a party holding at the hotel to dispossess their victims of cash and property worth over N200, 000.
Saturday Vanguard gathered that luck, however ran out on one of the suspects, Ifeanyi Clement, a victim recognized him while he was hurrying out of the hall with members of his gang. Clement and his suspected accomplice, Orji, were later arrested by men of the Rapid response Squad of the State Police Command.
“They carried out their operation smoothly, but while they (5man-robbery gang) were going out, the power was restored back suddenly and while they were rushing out from the hall, one of the people in the hall saw his face, but he (Clement) didn’t know.” It was gathered that the two suspects confessed to the crime as other members of their gang were still at large.
In a related development, the Police have arrested a man identified as Loveday Onungwa in Aba after he allegedly inflicted bodily injuries on one Chikwendu Sunday and later made away with the sum of N300, 000, belonging to the victim. The incident, it was learnt, took place at a hotel located at Ajao Estate, Lagos State where the suspect and the victim had gone to lodge during a business trip.
Saturday Vanguard learnt that Chinwendu who lives at No. 7 Leo Street by Osusu Road, Aba was in Lagos with Onungwa to help him buy an L300 bus he intended to use for commercial transportation in Aba. While they were lodged at the hotel, the suspect attacked the victim with a knife and cut off one of his fingers and inflicted deep cuts all over his body but the victim managed to raise alarm which attracted the hotel authorities.
But before they could locate the room, Onungwa had already left the hotel, leaving the victim in a pool of his own blood and was rushed to the hospital by the hotel operators. Efforts to arrest the suspect by the Ajao Police Station, Lagos state Command proved abortive as they could not trace his whereabouts, but luck however ran out on him when the Police in Aba arrested him through a tip off.
Spokesman of the Abia State Police, DSP Ezekiel Onyeke Udeviotu who confirmed the arrest of the suspects, added that efforts were on ground to hand over Onungwa to the Ajao Police State where the matter between him and Chikwendu Sunday was initially reported.

I Sold My Daughter Because I'm Poor — 20 Year Old Mother
Mariam Ekanem, a 20-year-old school drop out from Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River State, said yesterday in Calabar that poverty and lack of where to stay after she gave birth made her sell her two weeks old baby girl for N20,000.
According to Vanguard, Maria, who was arrested by the police along five other accomplices, said her boyfriend who got her pregnant, asked her to abort the baby but said a doctor helped her with free antenatal care and food until she gave birth.
This, she added, prompted her to agree to sell the baby when arrangements were made to sell.
Paraded along with Maria were a 55-year-old medical doctor, Okokon Offiong Okoho, the proprietor of Evangel Clinic,of 2, Atu Street; a 70-year-old matron of Sadatoe Maternity located at Umoh Street and a nurse at the maternity who allegedly made the plans to sell the girl to an Abuja-based lady who is now on the run.
However, plans to sell the two weeks old girl was leaked to the police by a Senior Secondary Two girl of NYSC
Demonstration Secondary School, Calabar , Maria Elemi, whose parents Maria was living with after she delivered the baby.
“When I came back from school on Monday, Maria told me she wanted to take the baby to the parents of the boy who impregnated her since she can no longer cope with taking care of the baby,” she said.
Maria said when they got to Fuller by Inyang Street in Calabar South, they met Mrs Elemi and her daughter in an SUV car, adding that Maria gave the girl to the matron who handed her over to the buyer.
She said: “The woman gave Maria N20,000 and asked her to pay the nurse at the Evangel Clinic and use the rest for herself.” The girl said she became suspicious when the driver of the SUV told the woman with the baby that her husband said she should take her to the airport to catch a flight to Abuja .
“I started wondering why they should take the girl to the airport when the boyfriend to Maria and her parents live here in Calabar,” Maria stated.

'Friend deceived me into killing the wrong person' - Cultist confesses
Morufu Liadi and Rilwan Balogun (misspetite)
A cultist has confessed to avenging his brothers death but killed the wrong person after his friend deceived him.
The suspect, 21-year-old Morufu Liadi, allegedly killed a 29-year-old motorcyclist, Lateef Sura during a birthday party in the Alakara, Mushin area of the state.
Liadi, who had an accomplice, Rilwan Balogun, confessed to stabbing the motorcyclist several times on the neck and on his waist till he died because he wanted to avenge the death of his brother who was killed in 2008.
Speaking with PUNCH Metro on Tuesday, Liadi, who recalled that he stabbed Sura to death with a table knife, said he was told that the deceased was responsible for the death of his elder brother, Azeez, in April 2008.
“On that Sunday, my colleagues came to see me at home and said we were going for a birthday party at Agbekolade Street, Mushin. I usually stayed in the Oju Irin (railway) area . The Aiye and the Eiye cult gangs have a feud in the area.
“It was my friend, Rilwan (Balogun), and others at the party who pointed the man to me that he was the killer of my elder brother. I had not met the deceased before.
“My elder brother, Azeez, also known as Arsenal, died in April 2008. He was killed by cult boys. So, I jumped on the man and began to stab him. I stabbed him several times on the neck and on the back. I used a table knife. I did not know that I was deceived.
“I belong to the Eiye Cult. I joined the gang some time last year. I am not a student. I was working as a vulcaniser.”
Balogun, 23, an indigene of Kwara State, who reportedly pointed the deceased to Liadi, said he mistook the man for a cult member in Idi Oro.
“It is true that I was the one who pointed out the deceased to Liadi. We had been invited to the birthday party by friends. I told Liadi that the deceased was an Idi Oro hoodlum. And then they jumped on him and began to stab him.
“I dropped out of school in JSS 3. I subsequently learnt carpentry but I was jobless as of the time the police arrested me. When the deceased fell down, the party scattered and all of us ran home. But I was arrested by the police inside my house.”

Katsina accesses N11bn bailout funds from CBN
KATSINA State Government has accessed N11 billion bailout funds from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), which would be committed to payment of outstanding pension and gratuities of state, and unified local government service retired civil servants.
Governor Aminu Masari made this known in Katsina when he appointed a committee to verify pension and gratuities arrears and also ascertain outstanding liability on the state and local government pension and gratuities within four weeks.
He also charged the panel to verify the beneficiaries for the payment of the retirees’ entitlements.
He revealed that immediately the committee completes the verification of any department, the selected commercial bank would receive approval to pay the genuine retirees or beneficiaries.
Meanwhile, organised labour in Benue yesterday gave the state government 72 hours ultimatum to stop the ongoing biometric exercise and pay the backlog of salary arrears owed workers. In a joint communiqué issued by chairmen of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Messrs Godwin Anya; Trade Union Congress (TUC), Ordue Tartenger and Joint Public Service Negotiation Council (JPSNC), Philip Nongo, the organised labour posited that biometric screening should not be a prerequisite for payment of salary arrears owed workers.
The workers warned that if government fails to honour the ultimatum and pay workers before Friday, they would be forced to severe the harmonious relationship with the government.
After the bailout fund was accessed two weeks ago, the government engaged consultants to audit the state workforce, which is expected to last till November 8, while also setting up committees to monitor the exercise.
Daily Sun investigation revealed that the decision of labour leaders to give the 72- hour ultimatum followed the commencement of payment of two-month salary arrears to staff of Benue State University (BSU) even though they refused to submit themselves for screening.

There were about 134 inmates at the Ekwulobia prison before the 47 Boko Haram prisoners were brought in the dead of the night of Sunday, June 28, 2015 amidst tight security.
It would be recalled that protests by traders in all the major towns in Anambra State trailed the presence of the Boko Haram suspects soon after they were brought into the state, although calm eventually returned.
A visit to Ekwulobia Prison yesterday showed that the heavy security that was mounted shortly after the suspects were brought to the town has relaxed, as the snipers that usually sat atop a structure at the prison were not seen on their duty post. The gate of the prison was also open, unlike what the situation had been for the past three months.
However, people living around the prison said they did not know that the Boko Haram prisoners had been removed from Ekwulobia, although they said they would be happy if it was true.
Reacting to the development, president of Ohaneze chairmen for the South East and South –South, Dr. Chris Eluemunor said the removal of the Boko Haram detainees from Ekwulobia Prison in Anambra State is a welcome development.
He told Vanguard last night: “We are happy to hear this. I thank Governor Willie Obiano who insisted from the day they were brought that they must leave the state. I went to the governor and told him that I would allow him only one month to ensure that they leave the state, otherwise Ohaneze would do something the country would not like. Since this has been done, I sincerely thank the governor.”
In her reaction, the member representing Aguata Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives Mrs. Eucharia Azodo in whose constituency the Ekwulobia Prison is located, commended the Federal Government for heeding to the cry of her constituents by eventually relocating the suspected Hoko Haram detainees.
Speaking with Vanguard in a telephone interview, Azodo who was the former speaker of the state House of Assembly, recalled how she moved a motion in July this year, calling for the removal of the detainees from her constituency in view of the fear it injected in the people.
She said: “I thank the federal government for heeding to the cry of my people. I thank all those in charge for having listening ears.

Ogunwusi was first received by his father, who introduced him to the chiefs, led by Ijaodola.
He consulted with the chiefs for about three minutes before he boarded the car that conveyed him to the old toll gate.
He acknowledged cheers from thousands of Ife residents and well wishers who trooped out to witness his arrival.
Ogunwusi’s arrival caused heavy traffic jam on the roads in Ile Ife as youths and elders lined both sides of the road, singing songs of welcome as the new monarch entered into the heart of the town.

Okorocha seeks restructuring of revenue allocation system
Gov. Rochas Okorocha of Imo has called for the restructuring of the revenue allocation system to protect weaker states in the country.
Okorocha made the call when members of the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), led by the Chairman, Mr Elias Mbam, visited him at Government House, Owerri, on Monday.
He noted that the status of Imo as one of the oil producing states in the country, had not reflected in what the state receives from the Federation Account.
According to him, many oil blocks in the state were ceded to Rivers, describing the development as worrisome.
“What Imo gets in nine months as allocation is what one state in the South-South gets in one month.”
He asked the RMAFC to consider whether it was proper that states pay the same salary structure, considering the disparity in the revenue allocation to the individual states.
“The economy of the country needs diversification. The nation’s economy must be diversified to de-emphasise the dependence on oil revenue.
“Since the commission decides who gets what, how and when, the case of Imo should be reviewed as an oil producing state.
“The state should be treated like other oil producing states.”
Okorocha, who commended the commission on the quality of men and women at its service, said that the state had justified its allocations
The governor said that the state government was the first to pay the N20,000 minimum wage to workers.
He identified the free education programme from primary to the tertiary and construction of road networks as some of the projects undertaken by his administration.
Earlier, Mbam commended Okorocha and his team for transforming the state.
He said the commission had a duty to review salaries and other revenue issues within its mandate, to reflect the current economic realities in the country.
Mbam expressed the gratitude of the commission to the Imo Government for accepting to host the commission’s retreat.
Mother of convicted Army General pleads for mercy
For a few seconds, Abimbola Davies gazed at the portrait hanging on the wall opposite where she sat in her home in Lagos, and the memories came flooding back.
It was in 1975 when Enitan Ransome-Kuti, her 11-year-old precocious son left home, traveling northward across the country to enrol at the Nigerian Military School, Zaria.
Thereafter, he joined the Nigerian Defence Academy, before enlisting in the army.
In the portrait on Mrs. Davies’ wall, Mr. Ransome-Kuti, who had risen to become a Brigadier-General, managed a thin smile, his full-grown frame bedecked in a military uniform.
But Mrs. Davies, 72, said her family would hardly smile again, not after Mr. Ransome-Kuti had been convicted and jailed for his role in the fight against Boko Haram – the first senior army officer to be so treated.
”I wonder why they singled him out, and treat him in this manner,” the old woman, who retired from the Army Signals, said during an interview last Friday.
“He has been wearing army uniform when he was 11 years old. You can imagine somebody that has been serving the nation for 40 years, that they now come to give this kind of judgment. I don’t know why.”
On October 15, a military court-martial sitting in Abuja, convicted Mr. Ransome Kuti, 51, of alleged offences during the war against Boko Haram – a sentence that earned him a six month prison term and a dismissal from the army.
According to the General Court Martial, Mr. Ransome-Kuti was awarded the following punishments:
• The first count charge, which was “cowardly behaviour” was struck out but he was found guilty on count charge number two which was “failure to perform military duties” and was dismissed from the Nigerian Army.
• He was equally found guilty on count charge number 3 which was “miscellaneous offences relating to service property” and was awarded six months imprisonment.
When the news of the military’s verdict was broken to her at home, Mrs. Davies said she wept.
“It is his brother and his wife that were begging me, because I don’t know how my BP (blood pressure) just spring up immediately I heard the news,” she said.
“I was shaking, that how come? How can Boko Haram issue come and spoil somebody’s career? Somebody that has been serving the nation for 40 years.
“Right from NMS (Nigerian Military School), he was Drum Major there. And he’s one of the best students there. Many people liked him, teachers, everybody.
“He does the work as if the work belongs to him. That is why I wonder why they would come and judge him this way. I felt bad, I cried, I wept bitterly.”
Mr. Ransome-Kuti, who was the Commander of the Multi National Joint Task Force, was blamed after the Boko Haram insurgents overran the Baga on January 3.
The brigadier-general, his chief of staff, Lieutenant-Colonel GA Suru, and some other senior officers were arrested for failing to repel the terrorists’ attack on the headquarters of the MNJTF.
During his trial, the officer denied all the charges, with his lawyer arguing that the Nigerian Army failed in its duties to provide the necessary equipment in the war against insurgency.
A military source told PREMIUM TIMES that before the attack, Mr. Ransome-Kuti had warned about the danger of keeping officers at Baga without adequate protection.
“It was too dangerous for them to stay at Baga. They were sitting there like lame ducks, too exposed,” said the source who preferred not to be named.
“Because of the danger, Chad were the first to withdraw from the MNJTF in May, followed by Niger around November.
“It was after the attack in January that they now moved the base from Baga to Ndjamena.”
The MNJTF was created by defence and military chiefs from the six countries that make up the Lake Chad Basin – Nigeria, Niger, Chad, Cameroun, Central African Republic, and Libya – to combat arms trafficking, terrorism, and related cross-border attacks.
There are different accounts as to what actually transpired in Baga on January 3 which led to the Boko Haram insurgents dislodging troops of the MNJTF as well as those of the 134 and 174 Battalions.
At the time of the incident, a military source had told PREMIUM TIMES that the military hierarchy were especially angry with Mr. Ransome-Kuti for his inability to lead his troop to counter the Boko Haram onslaught despite the high calibre of ammunition at his disposal.
The Brigadier-General was also said to had gone underground for four days after the MNJTF was dislodged.
“Nobody was able to reach him and nobody could tell where he was,” a source said.
“The suspicion is that he was roaming around Maiduguri in mufti while his troop were in disarray. He and his officers have to account for everything.”
But Mrs. Davies insisted her son would never abscond from his duty post, adding that Mr. Ransome-Kuti had been fighting the insurgents since 2009.
”He doesn’t come home often, because they post him from one end to another, far in the north there. They don’t bring him to Lagos, it’s that north that they have been taking him to,” Mrs. Davies said.
“And when this thing started, when he was the commander of one unit at Nguru, he was the one that led his men that they drove these people away. They faced them and drove them away from Potiskum.
“He was the one that fought that fight and those people went away. Before they came back in full force. And they even called him to army headquarters to commend him for doing that work.”
Mr. Ransome-Kuti’s court martial lasted over six months, and his mother said she never summoned courage to attempt attending any of the proceedings or watch news of the hearing.
“I’ve never attended the court since the case started,” she said.
“I can’t stand and be looking at my son in court. I just sit down at home, waiting for whatever they said they should tell me.”
As military duties moved Mr. Ransome-Kuti around northern Nigeria, from Yola to Biu to Kainji, Mrs. Davies maintained a steady presence in her son’s family, sometimes spending up to eight months in one year.
“I used to stay with the wife, so that I’ll be keeping her company,” she said.
“He’s always traveling, they always post him out to go and work. That’s why I use to follow them about to stay with the children and the wife.”
Asked if she’d rather her son’s judgment was commuted to a mere dismissal from the army, Mrs. Davies insisted reinstatement is the only option.
She appealed to Yoruba leaders to intervene in the issue and help save her son.
”I’m just appealing to the military authority and Nigerians to help us beg them to send him back to his work,” she said.
“To give him back his rank and let him go back to work, because he doesn’t deserve this kind of judgment.”
In addition to Mr. Ransome Kuti’s portrait, other photographs, including wedding photos, adorn the walls of the poorly lit room where Mrs. Davies took turns to respond to questions from two journalists.
“He’s the one taking care of me and he has a wife and three children,” she said.
“And there are some other family members that he is taking care of. In fact, I will say he is a pillar in the family. Since he was detained in Abuja, everybody has been down and everybody is praying that they should release him because he’s our breadwinner.”
Disturbing Video Shows School Cop Dragging Girl From Desk And Throwing Her Across The Room
A video of a Columbia, South Carolina high school police officer brutally assaulting a quiet, seated 15-year-old student is quickly going viral on social media.
In the video, Officer Ben Fields, who patrols Spring Valley High School, is seen accosting a seated student, yanking on her arm to make her stand up. When she refuses, Officer Fields lifts her and the desk into the air, slams the student on her back, drags her to the front of the classroom, and tells her to put her hands behind her back.
In a statement to local media, Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said that Officer Ben Fields, who is Spring Valley’s official School Resource Officer (SRO), was responding to a student who was refusing to leave class.
“The student was told she was under arrest for disturbing school and given instructions which she again refused,” Lott told Live5News.com. “The video then shows the student resisting and being arrested by the SRO.”
A local group called the Richland Two Black Parents Association have also released a statement in response to the video, condemning Officer Fields’ actions.
“Parents are heartbroken as this is just another example of the intolerance that continues to be of issue in Richland School District Two particularly with families and children of color. As we have stated in the past, we stand ready to work in collaboration to address these horrible acts of violence and inequities among our children,” the statement read.
New York Daily News senior justice writer Shaun King, who originally tweeted the video, said students who surreptitiously recorded Officer Ben Fields’ brutality said he was widely known as abusive throughout the school.
Trump: Life was hard, my dad only loaned me $1 million
Donald Trump said Monday that he didn’t have it easy growing up because his father gave him a paltry $1 million loan to launch his career in real estate.
The billionaire entrepreneur recalled his hard-scrabble beginnings to a New Hampshire crowd to demonstrate how he’s “fought through” adversity his entire life.
“It has not been easy for me,” Trump told a mother of two at a “Today” show town hall meeting.
“I started off in Brooklyn. My father gave me a small loan of $1 million,” Trump said. “I came into Manhattan. I had to pay him back. I had to pay him back with interest. But I came into Manhattan, I started buying up properties. And I did great.”
Host Matt Lauer questioned the hard-knock-life narrative.
“You said that it hasn’t been easy for you, but my dad gave me a million dollar loan. That is probably going to seem pretty easy to a lot of people,” Lauer said.
“You’re right,” responded Trump. “But a million dollars isn’t very much compared to what I built. I built one of the great companies.”
At the town hall with 125 voters, Trump fielded questions — including one about his humility.
One woman suggested he should “eat a piece of humble pie.”
Trump acknowledged he has faults but he refused to reveal them. “I have weaknesses,” Trump said. “…. I don’t like exposing them though. If I expose them then the enemy knows.”
One 21-year-old college student asked the GOP front-runner if he has a economic plan or should “middle class voters just elect you because your name is Trump?”
“Well, I think they should because I built a great company. Everybody agrees on that,” Trump replied.
“Do you have a specific plan,” the St. Anselm College student pressed.
“Sure. I’m going renegotiate trade deals, I going to bring jobs back. I’m going to bring our manufacturing back,” he said.
Trump then claimed responsibility for Ford’s plan to move jobs from Mexico to the US.
“I should get credit for that,” he said. “…Ford was going to build this massive plant. I brought it up in so many speeches. And frankly, I think I embarrassed them. But Ford now is going to build a big massive plant in the United States. I want to do that times 1,000.”
But GOP rival John Kasich insisted he deserves the credit because of what he did four years ago.
“The truth is that Ford began moving jobs back to Ohio four years ago under the leadership of Governor John Kasich,” the Ohio governor’s campaign said in a statement referring to the 2011 agreement with the automaker to shift some truck assembly back to Ohio from Mexico.
The Washington Post reported Monday that Ford is still building a massive facility in Mexico.

Survivors of Helicopter Crash Testify in TB Joshua's Church
Two survivors of the tragic incident that saw a Bristow helicopter crash into the lagoon in the Oworonshoki area of Lagos on 12th August, 2015 have testified that it was 'God's hand' that saved them from certain death.
On Sunday 25th October, oil workers Chukwudi Onah and Dolu Ebiejuara appeared in TB Joshua's Synagogue church to thank God for preserving their lives in the disaster that led to six fatalities, including that of the pilot and co-pilot.
According to Onah, it was the 'Morning Water' he had received at The Synagogue Church that was instrumental to his survival. "I never leave it anywhere I am going. It's always with me, along with my Anointing Sticker" from TB Joshua.
He explained to the congregation: "On that fateful day, before I left my room, I prayed that God would take charge and thanked Him for journeying mercies," he continued, stating that he sprayed the 'Morning Water' upon himself.
According to Onah, there were no signs of trouble as the flight was going "very smoothly". However, merely minutes away from arriving at Lagos Murtala Muhammed Airport (DNMM), tragedy struck.
"The chopper suddenly turned," Onah vividly described. "Everybody became confused. We were shouting Jesus! The chopper was dangling up and down. I didn't even know when it fell inside the water."
As the Bristow Sikosky S76 C+ helicopter began descending steadily to the bottom of the lagoon, Onah was strapped heavily into his seatbelt and could not move. "I shouted, 'God of TB Joshua - save me' ", he recounted, adding that his lungs soon filled up with water.
According to the SEDCO oil worker, what transpired next can only be termed 'supernatural'. Staring death in the face, confused and struggling to free himself, Onah said he heard a 'voice' speaking clearly to him.
"It's just as you are hearing me now. The voice said, 'Your seatbelt.' I took my hand to the side of the seat belt and it became suddenly loose. The same voice came again and said, 'Your lifejacket'. I took my hand to the side of the life-jacket and it suddenly inflated. It now carried me up from down to the top of the sea."
Onah somberly recounted that the two passengers seated directly besides him were among the fatalities. "If not for Jesus, I would have died. I give the glory to Jesus Christ who saved my life," he said, bringing out the 'Anointing Sticker' from his pocket that he had with him on the day of the ill-fated journey.
Dolu Ebiejuara similarly stated that he was a regular visitor to The SCOAN and had ministered 'Morning Water' before entering the helicopter that day. Recounting his experience, he said, "All that I saw was the helicopter take a sharp turn and then we were just plummeting down."
Moments before the crash, Ebiejuara said that he lost consciousness. "All I could remember was that I saw myself swimming. There is no way I could have come out of the helicopter without removing my seat belt but I was not the one. I don't even know how I came out under the water. I know it is God's doing because there is God's hand in the Morning Water."
The duo both sustained injuries but have since recovered. They were accompanied by more than seventeen family members who came to share the testimony.
Intriguingly, T.B. Joshua himself was not present in the service, making it more than five months since he has been seen in public.

Khloe Kardashian Tells Lamar Odom - You Do Drugs Again, I"m Gone for Good
Khloe Kardashian isn't stupid, and she's ready to re-launch divorce proceedings if Lamar Odom shows any signs of going back to the world of drugs... so say sources connected with Khloe reports TMZ.
Our sources say Khloe is annoyed by people on social media who are calling her a naive for dropping the divorce. TMZ broke the story, Khloe and Lamar both signed off to dismiss the divorce case, which was all but final. We're told Khloe knows better than anyone about Lamar's battle with drugs. Feelings aside, she's game to drop the divorce party because Lamar has no one else in his life to help him recover. And, by the way, we're told Lamar is on the Kardashian health insurance policy and he needs to stay on.
Lamar's medical bills will total in the many millions, and our sources say he doesn't have the financial wherewithal to handle it on his own.
It's murky, because if this were just about health insurance, Khloe could easily buy it for him and go through with the divorce.
Bottom line ... if he goes back to drugs, she's gone.
Indian girl who wandered into Pakistan reunited with family after 13 years
The story of Geeta, a Hindu woman in her early 20s, has captivated people on both sides of the border at a time of heightened tension between the nuclear-armed rivals.
"A daughter returns home. Geeta arrives in New Delhi accompanied by members of Edhi Foundation," Indian foreign ministry spokesman Vikas Swarup said on Twitter, referring to the Pakistani charity group that has looked after her.
Geeta was about 11 when she crossed from India into Pakistan. Exactly how is not clear but Geeta mimes an explosion and shows how she ducked and ran before being caught by armed men.
At first, she was kept at a children's home in the city of Lahore, where she was given the Muslim name Fatima.
She would point at maps of India, especially to an area in the south of Jharkhand State until she was able to finally communicate she was from India, not Pakistan.
Early on Monday, Geeta left the charity bound for the airport in the city of Karachi for a flight to New Delhi.
Wearing a traditional red outfit with her head covered by a loose scarf, she smiled, waved to television cameras, and joined her hands in a traditional Indian greeting before climbing into a van to the airport.
"Geeta stayed with us for 13 years. Now it's time for her to go home," said Faisal Edhi, son of the founder of the Edhi Foundation that looked after the girl
She was headed to meet a family from India's Bihar state whom she says she recognised from photos sent by the Indian High Commission in Pakistan.
Edhi said investigations will be done to be certain the family is actually hers.
"If the DNA doesn't match, the Indian authorities will continue the search for her family."
Edhi thanked India and Pakistan for their role in Geeta's repatriation.
Hostilities have kept apart many families since majority-Hindu India and Muslim Pakistan became separate countries in 1947.
Geeta's story attracted much attention following a film with a similar plot that was released this year.
In the movie "Bajrangi Bhaijaan", actor Salman Khan plays an Indian man who finds a mute Pakistani girl and tries to reunite her with her family.
The scriptwriters were unaware of Geeta's story but the movie led to a surge in interest in her.
