China adopts Criminal Law amendments, repealing crime of sex with underage prostitutes

China's top legislature adopted amendments to Criminal Law on Saturday, repealing the crime of sex with underage prostitutes, and ruling out commutation for most corrupt figures.

The amendments, voted by lawmakers at the end of a six-day bimonthly session of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, repealed the crime of sex with underage prostitutes and reclassified it as rape, which would face a tougher punishment.

A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Dornier-228 aircraft with call sign NAF030 crashed in Kaduna today, killing all on board .

The decomposing body of a 33-year-old man, Gbenga Ogundana, has been discovered by Police detectives in Akure, Ondo State capital, after he reportedly committed suicide over loss of his job.

Vanguard gathered that the body was discovered in his rented apartment located at Orisunmbare Street, Cultural Centre, Akure, four days after he allegedly poisoned himself.

Vanguard was informed that neighbours of the deceased had earlier reported to his elder brother, Segun, that the whereabouts of his brother was unknown.

NUC Releases List Of Illegal Tertiary Institutions In Nigeria

The National Universities Commission has released a list of illegal degree awarding institutions operating in Nigeria.

The schools were published in the NUC’s weekly bulletin dated August 24.

According to the bulletin, the NUC Executive secretary, Julius Okojie, warned that those who patronise the schools, do so at their own risk.

“Certificates obtained from these sources will not be recognized for the purpose of NYSC, employment and further studies,” the NUC said.

A FORMER Christian school teacher has been accused of having sex with a 17-year-old student after his mum alerted authorities.

35 years old Steven Anowa, from Njikoka Local Government Area in Anambra State, presently cooling his heels with the police in Akwa Ibom State, has related how he butchered 31-year-old Daniel Bassey Solomon, the brother of his girlfriend at his one-room apartment in Itu Street, Uyo, the state capital.

Solomon hailed from Uruan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. His killer, who is in the habit of changing residences, had just packed from Uruan where he met and started dating Solomon’s sister, about two years ago.

A STUDENT teacher who failed to control his sexual desires and caressed a fellow passenger's private parts in a commuter omnibus has been fined $100. Collins Mhise (35) was convicted of indecent assault by Mutare magistrate, Miss Nyasha Kuture. Mr Shepherd Chavarika prosecuted.

It was the State's case that Mhise fondled the 21-year-old complainant's breasts and went on to caress her private parts as they were travelling from Hob-House to the City Centre along Magamba Road recently.
