Islamic State's second in command, Fadhil Ahmad al-Hayali, has just been killed in a US airstrike.

According to the White House, Fadhil Ahmad al-Hayali was killed in a strike near the Iraqi city of Mosul on Tuesday. Hayali was said to be a 'senior deputy' of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
He had reportedly been involved in the offensive that led ISIS to capture Mosul last summer and was allegedly involved in moving large numbers of weapons and supplies and people between the organization's strongholds in Iraq and Syria.

Buhari suspends Comptroller-General of Immigration


The comptroller general of Nigeria Immigration Service, David Parradang has been suspended by president Buhari .The service’s deputy comptroller general, Martin Abeshi,was directed to take over with immediate effect
It was not immediately clear why Mr. Parradang was sanctioned.The suspension was contained in a statement signed by the Director of Press, Federal Ministry of Interior, Mr Yusuf Isiaka Alhaji, on behalf of the permanent secretary of the ministry.

A teenage boy met a brutal death after four students hacked him with a machete and buried him alive.Two attackers then had sex near his shallow grave, police said.
The group plotted the gruesome murder of Jose Amaya Guardado for two weeks, digging the grave and hiding the machete in woods near their Florida university campus.
Kaheem Arbelo, 20, Jonathan Lucas, 18, and Christian Colon, 19, were arrested and confessed to the crime last week, Miami-Dade police said.

NEMA discovers 22 Boko Haram members among Nigerians deported from Cameroun


National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has discovered 22 Boko Haram members among Nigerians deported from Cameroun. The returnees were settled at the internally displaced persons (IDPs) camp in Mubi, Adamawa, State.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Director General of NEMA, Mr, Muhammad Sani Sidi, disclosed this at the 18th Safe Schools Initiative Technical Committee meeting yesterday in Abuja.
Sidi stated that the Boko Haram members were identified with a peculiar mark on their backs among the 12,000 Nigerians deported from Cameroun residing at the IDPs camp in Mubi.

ISIS are getting rid of militants who contracted HIV from captured sex slaves,by forcing them to become suicide bombers.

In 2014/15‚18‚086 people visited public health facilities with sexually transmitted infections (19‚416 in 2013/14);

The incidence of STIs (in 2014/15) was 33‚4% (males) and 66‚4% (females);
The most affected age groups are 25 to 29 years for both males and females; and
More female are attending public health facilities than males‚ which is why the incidence of 'STI treated new episode seems to be higher than males'.

Landlady allegedly sets tenant’s son ablaze in Ajegunle

Stop fixing fuel prices, NNPC, others tell FG



The fixing of petroleum products’ prices is denying the country investment in the downstream sector of the oil and gas industry and depriving Nigerians certain benefits from the country’s petroleum resources, industry stakeholders said on Thursday.

The Federal Government currently regulates the prices of Premium Motor Spirit, otherwise known as petrol, and kerosene, and subsidises their prices to enable Nigerians to get the products at the regulated prices.

The regulated price of petrol is currently N87 per litre while that of kerosene is N50 per litre. But the products are sold above the regulated prices in parts of the country, despite government’s subsidy.

The Group Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Dr. Emmanuel Kachikwu, in his address at the National Association of Energy Correspondents’ conference in Lagos, said, “Subsidy creates distortions in government revenue distribution as a result of round-tripping and unnecessary carry-over of expenditures every year in a way that is difficult for government to control or sustain.”

‘Diabetic mothers risk giving birth to children with brain defect’



An Abuja-based gynecologist, Dr Kola Osibote, has said mothers with diabetic conditions are at risk of giving birth to children with brain defects.

Osibote told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja yesterday that diabetes increases pregnancy related risks and causes lots of negative effects to the mother and child.

Saidi Abubaka, a 27-year old man, has been arrested and charged with sodomy before a Magistrates’ court sitting in Isolo, Lagos State.

According to PM News, Saidi allegedly bit off the lip of his victim, a man who refused to have sex with him. According to the police, Saidi was arrested for his involvement in an indecent act by forcing 25 year old ,Abubaka Abdulahi, into unlawful sex and assault. It was alleged that when the victim, Abdulahi resisted the unlawful sexual act, Abubaka bit off his lower lip.

Nigerian Army recalls soldiers dismissed for refusing to fight Boko Haram

                        

The Nigerian Army have recalled about 3000 soldiers that were relieved of their jobs because they refused to fight Boko Haram. The soldiers refused fighting the sect because they said they lacked the appropriate weapons to engage the sect members and win the battle.

According to Daily Trust, the soldiers are currently being screened at the Jaji military cantonment in Kaduna State.

The 350 Spanish gold coins were found 300 years to the day after a fleet of ships sunk in a hurricane while en route from Havana to Spain.
Treasure hunters have found a trove of $4.5 million worth of Spanish gold coins in Florida.
The discovery was made 300 years to the day after a fleet of ships sunk in a hurricane while en route from Havana to Spain, the salvage owner said.

The 350 coins include nine rare pieces, known as royal eight escudos, which are being transported to the King of Spain, according to Brent Brisben.
His company, 1715 Fleet - Queens Jewels, owns the rights to the wreckage.
Only 20 such coins were known to exist prior to the recovery of the nine royals, Brisben said.

Saudi MERS infections soar ahead of hajj pilgrimage



The Saudi Gazette said authorities shut the emergency ward at one of the capital's largest hospitals, King Abdulaziz Medical City (KAMC-R), "after at least 46 people, including hospital staff" contracted the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome.

The health ministry has said it registered 21 confirmed MERS infections, all but one of them in Riyadh, between August 9 and 15.

There was no immediate explanation for the difference in the figures, but the ward closure at KAMC-R was confirmed to AFP by a hospital employee.

The Nigerian embassy in Delhi, India, has written to the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to see the 2 Nigerians that were arrested in Punjab recently while on their way to Pakistan, allegedly to join the Islamic State terrorist group.
The two suspects from Kano, identified as Imran Kabeer and Sani Jamiliu, are currently being detained by the Punjab Police in India.

Army Identifies Soldiers who Tortured Civilian in Nasarawa

                    


Authorities of the Nigerian Army on Wednesday, said it had identified the soldiers who violated the rights of a member of the public in Mararaba, Nasarawa state, on Aug. 8.

Brig.-Gen. Yusuf Shalangwa, Director, Legal Services, Nigerian Army, made this known in Abuja when the army appeared before the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that on Aug. 8, a photograph of a man lying in the mud, with some soldiers standing over him was seen on the front page of a newspaper.

Ayade abolishes taxes for low income earners



Cross River State Governor Ben Ayade yesterday announced that low-income earners will no longer pay taxes.

Ayade told reporters in Calabar, the state capital, that a bill to this effect was before the House of Assembly.

The governor said the poor could not continue to suffer while the rich keep amassing wealth without giving back, describing the bill as people-oriented.

A 52-year-old man, Maxwell Ekwueme, was on Wednesday arraigned in a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly touching the breast of a 10-year-old girl without her consent.

The accused, who resides at No, 17, Tola Oduntan St., Shomolu, Lagos, is standing trial on a count-charge of sexual abuse.

The prosecutor, Rita Momah, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Aug. 13, at about 2:00 p.m., at No. 17, Tola Oduntan St., Shomolu, Lagos.

Jonathan Never Gave Us $200m For Nollywood - Bank of Industry

                

Following the call by veteran actor, Lari Williams to President Muhammadu Buhari to probe the $200million fund reportedly given to the entertainment industry by the Goodluck Jonathan administration, the Bank of Industry (BOI) has denied getting such fund.

The bank, in a statement, claimed Jonathan never gave them the said amount.
In 2010, the former president announced a $200million intervention fund for the entertainment industry during a function in Lagos. The money almost tore Nollywood apart and some of the practitioners who tried to access the fund were getting frustrated because of the conditions attached to it.
But some days ago, Lari Williams, a former president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), called on the President to probe the fund, which was reportedly in care of BOI.

Zimbabwe MPs approve bill to halt sackings


Zimbabwe's lower house of parliament has approved a bill making it harder to fire workers, after thousands were sacked following a controversial Supreme Court ruling in July.

The state-owned Herald newspaper reported Wednesday the bill passed late Tuesday in the House of Assembly and now awaits a rubber-stamp from the Senate.
The approval came as the capital's municipality mulled laying off more than 3,000 workers to reduce its wage bill -- the latest in a slew of firings following a court ruling that allowed employers to dismiss workers after giving three months' notice.

CBN bars foreign firms from printing cheques for Nigerian banks

               

The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has denied accreditation to foreign printers who hitherto printed cheque books for some Nigerian banks. In a circular released, yesterday, entitled: “Circular to deposit money banks, cheque printers and other stakeholders on the accreditation of cheque printers for 2015/2016″ and signed by Director, Banking and Payment Systems Department, Dipo Fatokun, the Central bank said it has duly notified all accredited printers and issued certificates to them.
