christianity is a love relationship

You cannot love someone that you do not know, and you cannot know someone that you don’t spend quality time with.

To know Jesus is to love Him. To love Him is to trust Him. To trust Him is to obey Him. To obey Him is to be blessed. It begins with a daily, quality communication with the Lord.

Why is it best to spend time with the Lord in the morning? Because you are getting ready to go on a road trip through life. You don’t take the trip and then read the map, do you?

Feel good about who you are

An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck.

One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water. At the end of the long walk from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.

For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water.

A 10-year-old Brazilian girl has given birth to a child after complaining of having a stomach ache at school.

The girl was taken to the hospital by her teachers where doctors discovered she was in the later stages of labor, reports Metro.

The unnamed schoolgirl from southeast Brazil was found to be seven months pregnant.

The baby was delivered safely last week.

Odi, a coastal community in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, has been engulfed in crisis since 1999 when federal troops attacked it to avenge the murder of some security operatives by some youth.

The passport posted on the Internet indicated that the man’s name is Ibrahim Adeola; his date of birth is May 24, 1979; he was born in Imo State.

Adeola’s passport was issued on January 21, 2012 and its expiration date is January 20, 2017.

He was said to have been kidnapped in Wilayat, an eastern part of Libya.

This Man Organised Kidnappings in River State from London

A 45-year-old man, Chukwudi Ubani has told the police how he ran a kidnap syndicate from his base in London. He was said to have been responsible for several kidnap cases in Rivers State and its environs for several years.

He was recently lured back to Nigeria and nabbed by the Rivers Police detectives at his house on Elioparanwo road, Port Harcourt. Also arrested was Chuwudi Ben Ononenyi, 29, who prepares the ground for every attack before Ubani returns from London for execution.

Wendell Berry tells the story of two friends who lived in a small community in Kentucky in the year 1912. Ben Feltner and Thad Coulter were part of a close-knit agrarian community with strong ties to each other, to the land, and to hard work. Yet tragedy ensued when Thad invested in a risky business deal with his son and lost out. Humiliated and falling into despair, Thad drank himself into a stupor and then headed over to ask his friend Ben for help. Ben did not want to discuss options with Thad in his condition, and so refused to talk with him until the next day when he was sober.

However, Thad succumbed to the darkness creeping over him and returned home to get his gun, which he then used to shoot Ben Feltner in a drunken rage. The rest of the story was a beautiful tale of forgiveness and mercy offered by Ben’s family and the community. Yet sadly, Thad himself was unable to experience that forgiveness because he could not bear to live knowing he had killed his best friend, and so ended his own life.

Pneumonia is preventable and treatable

Pneumonia kills a staggering 1.6 million people globally every year with children under age five bearing the brunt of the crisis, especially in underdeveloped and developing countries. According to the World Health Organisation pneumonia is preventable and treatable.

But WHO said that every 20 seconds, a child somewhere in the world dies of pneumonia, making it the number one infectious killer of children across the globe, especially in Africa where even malaria is known to be the commonest of diseases.

Africa has been known to be badly hit by the pneumonia scourge compared to other continents. Indeed, according to reports, Nigeria is taking the lead in incidence rate on the continent.

Like every expectant parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sola Afolabi were full of hope four years ago while expecting the first fruit of their marriage. According to Afolabi, the couple would tease each other on the likely name or sex of the baby before its arrival. The long wait ended when the wife delivering a baby boy about three years ago, precisely on January 12, 2012. God and Justice – God cannot sin
How do God and justice relate? Although we say “God is almighty and can do anything,” there are some things God cannot do. Imagine a just policeman who is being bribed. Suppose he says, “Accepting your money would be against the law. I cannot do it.” By that he does not mean he is physically unable to accept the money. He would only need to stick out his hand.

Though obviously much greater, God is like a good policeman. He cannot sin because He will not sin. If God did wrong, He would cease being good. Likewise, if God were to let sin go unpunished, He would violate His integrity. Therefore, because God is righteous, He always requires justice.

True Christian

The basic definition of a Christian is a person professing belief in Jesus as the Christ or someone who is a proponent of the religion based on the teachings of Jesus. Over time, a common definition of a Christian has changed to someone who is religious or displays moral ethics. People often consider themselves Christians if they are religious, if they were brought up in a religious family, if they go to church, or if they live in a Christian nation. But does this make someone a “true Christian”?

The book of Acts is a great follow up; it contains the exciting story of how Christ’s disciples spread the Good News about His death, burial and resurrection.

As you read, ask God to give you understanding and wisdom: Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in your law (Psalm 119:18). Think about what you read: study and analyze it. Write down questions you have and ask a mature Christian to help clarify your understanding.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has commenced an investigation into the administration of Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan.

Investigations on Wednesday revealed that a team of operatives attached to the Economic Governance Unit of the commission was entrusted with the responsibility of looking into the account books of the Delta State Government under Uduaghan.

A reliable source disclosed to our correspondent that some officials of the state government would appear before the commission to answer questions in relation with alleged economic crimes next week.

It was learnt that some former commissioners and principal officers of the state’s seventh House of Assembly would be invited by the commission for interrogation.

The Presidency, on Wednesday, said there was no truth in a claim by a pirate radio station that President Muhammadu Buhari expressed anti-Igbo sentiments in a recent interview with the BBC Hausa Service.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, in a statement, described the claim as “completely false, malicious and slanderous.”

Shehu said the voice ascribed to Buhari in the recording, repeatedly played by the pirate radio station, was not that of the President.

Dr Jonathan is disturbed by the determination of President Muhammadu Buhari to probe how $2.1billion was illegally withdrawn from the Excess Crude Account (ECA), sources said yesterday, pleading not to be named “because of the sensitivity of the matter”.

There was pandemonium on Tuesday after a group of armed youths tried to attack a bank on Udu Road, Warri, Delta State.

The incident started when a bullion van conveying money to the bank was held in a traffic jam, and the driver decided to drive against the traffic.

An oncoming tipper, in an attempt to avoid colliding with the bullion van, swerved from its lane and rammed into a pregnant woman.

Seventeen-year-old Beninoise woman, Abiodun Ojo, who killed her husband, Jimoh, in the Makoko area of Yaba, Lagos State, has said she poisoned her husband because she hated him.

Abiodun, during an interview with Punch Metro, blamed her father for forcing her to marry Jimoh, who she said never took care of her.

She said she had run away from the deceased three times, and was sent back by her father, who she described as the architect of her problem.

Punch Metro had reported that Abiodun had been handed over to Jimoh as wife by her father to stop her from marrying her boyfriend.

Fenerbahce have confirmed that Robin van Persie has joined the club from Manchester United.

The two clubs had agreed a fee for the 31-year-old striker last week while Van Persie passed a medical in London and signed a three-year deal, according to Soccernet.

The dreaded Boko Haram sect has killed 25 persons at the outskirts of Maiduguri, a member of youth vigilance group, Abba Izge, told our correspondent on the telephone on Tuesday in Maiduguri.

Izge said over a hundred Boko Haram militants stormed Mainok village in Konduga Local Government of Borno State, North-East Nigeria on Monday at about 6pm, killing residents at will in a siege that was on four over three hours.

He said the vehicles that were trapped in Mainok, along Maiduguri/Damaturu highways, were not spared as they were set ablaze by the hoodlums.

'Money is not justice,' says family in NY police death

Eric Garner's death in July 2014 was the first in a year of high-profile, racially-charged incidents in which white officers have been accused of using unreasonable force or being too quick to fire at black suspects.

The deaths have fueled nationwide protests, bitter debate about racism and demands for structural reforms to police practices.

The city of New York announced a settlement with the Garners on Monday, nine months after the family took steps towards seeking $75 million in damages.

Garner's loved ones and civil rights campaigner Al Sharpton urged the US federal government at a news conference to take up the case and to hold the white police officers accountable for his death.

"This does not represent justice. We call on the Department of Justice and (US Attorney General) Loretta Lynch to deliver justice for my father," said daughter Erica Garner.

"Justice is indictments and a fair trial."

The Federal Government has said it had succeeded in jamming the transmission signals of Radio Biafra, which had been operating illegally from an unknown location.

Dr Yemi Folasade-Esan, the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Information, stated this while speaking with State House correspondents after she had briefed President Muhammadu Buhari on the activities of the ministry.

North Korean military chiefs have confirmed that they brutally executed the country's defence chief using a massive anti-aircraft gun at close range. president Muhammadu Buhari has approved N160 to $1 exchange rate for the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission’s (NCPC) operations.

The commission’s Executive Secretary, John Keneddy-Opara, told State House correspondents after briefing Buhari on the commission’s activities at the State House, Abuja.

He said: “As you are aware, he has approved $1 to N160 for the conventional exchange rate for this pilgrimage operation and he also agreed that he will continue to encourage us, particularly as we drive to ensure self-sustenance, to make sure that the pilgrims are able to pay for the pilgrimages by removing government sponsorship.

Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole has again taken on former Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy Mrs Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

He accused her of illegally taking $1 billion from the Federation Account to fund the failedre-election bid of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Explaining how he arrived at the figure, Oshiohmole said the former minister’s claim that the $2.1 billion alleged to have been illegally withdrawn for subsidy payment had been refuted by fuel importers, who said they got only $1 billion.

Sokoto Governor Pays July Salary Ahead Of Eid-el-Fitr

The Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal has approved the immediate payment of July salaries to workers of the state ahead of the Eid-el-Fitr.

This was made known in a press statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mallam Imam Imam today. It also stated that payment of salaries has commenced for all categories of workers in the state civil service.

A mother who allegedly allowed a 41-year-old man to move into her 13-year-old daughter’s room has been charged with permitting sexual abuse of a child.

Aurora Vertiz, 55, is accused of fostering the relationship between her daughter and the man who is nearly 30 years older than her, including being aware of their sexual relationship.

Within three months of the man moving into the home in Chicago, Vertiz’s 13-year-old daughter had become pregnant, which she failed to report to the police.
