How often do you find yourself worrying about the opinion of other people? You don’t want to look dumb, frumpy, clumsy, boring, etc. You don’t want others to gossip about how you’re lazy worker, an irresponsible parent, or a selfish spouse.

How to Turn an Argument Around: Three Keys to Success

By Mike Bundrant:

You know that point in an argument right before the blow up?

Things are beginning to heat up, but you’re not past the point of no return. You could still save yourself from the damage that is sure to come.

This is where we’re going to focus today. Managing this crucial point of awareness is the key to avoiding the pain of another argument. We’ll go over just three critical things you need to do.

It’s important to remember that NONE of these steps involve caving in or sacrificing your sense of justice. Avoiding arguments doesn’t make you weak. It makes you stronger. Weak, insecure people argue chronically. Strong people can remain calm and respect boundaries.

Here are the key elements you’ll need:

You Control Your Attitude

Attitude is your window to the world. . . . and it's your job to keep your window clean. Sure, I can give you a little encouragement. And other people can encourage you, too. But in the end, nobody else can do it for you.

You see, you always have a choice. You can leave the filth on your window and look at life through a smeared glass. But there are consequences to that approach--and they're not very pretty. You'll go through life negative and frustrated. You'll be unhappy. You'll achieve only a fraction of what you're capable of achieving.

Accepting Yourself Unconditionally

Self-acceptance begins in infancy, with the influence of your parents and siblings and other important people. Your own level of self-acceptance is determined largely by how well you feel you are accepted by the important people in your life.

Your attitude toward yourself is determined largely by the attitudes that you think other people have toward you. When you believe that other people think highly of you, your level of self-acceptance and self-esteem goes straight up.

The best way to build a healthy personality involves understanding yourself and your feelings.

Europeans only developed lighter skins much later, and Zadik believes this may have been due to Middle Eastern immigrants during the Bronze Age.
