President Obama Cites the Bible in Immigration Speech

(PHOTO: REUTERS/JIM BOURG)

U.S. President Barack Obama announces executive actions on U.S. immigration policy during a nationally televised address from the White House in Washington, November 20, 2014. Obama outlined a plan on Thursday to ease the threat of deportation for about 4.7 million undocumented immigrants.

President Barack Obama appealed to the Good Book on Thursday evening when he addressed the nation regarding his executive order on immigration amnesty.

During his speech, Obama alluded to the Old Testament law that mandated that the Ancient nation of Israel look after the foreigners among them.

"Scripture tells us that we shall not oppress a stranger, for we know the heart of a stranger –- we were strangers once, too," said Obama.

"My fellow Americans, we are and always will be a nation of immigrants. We were strangers once, too. And whether our forebears were strangers who crossed the Atlantic, or the Pacific, or the Rio Grande, we are here only because this country welcomed them in, and taught them that to be an American is about something more than what we look like, or what our last names are, or how we worship."

Numerous passages of the Bible command believers to welcome the strangers among them, including Deuteronomy 10: 19 and Leviticus 19:34.

On Thursday, Obama spoke about an executive order he decided to issue that would grant a pathway to legal status for about 5 million immigrants who entered the country illegally.

The order also involved deporting undocumented immigrants with a criminal background and granting temporary citizenship for those with children born in the United States, known as "DREAMers."

The president has garnered praise from some groups for advancing objectives on immigration reform that have stalled in Congress.

He also has garnered criticism from others for reportedly overstepping his constitutional authority and bypassing Congress, specifically a Congress that will have a Republican majority in both houses next year.

Obama is not the first executive official to quote the Bible's stance on immigration when justifying a policy position on the matter.

In July, when offering to provide shelter for the undocumented minors who had entered the country, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick had similarly quoted the Bible.

"My faith teaches that if a stranger dwells with you in your land, you shall not mistreat him, but rather love him as yourself," stated Patrick.

Another Republic Biafran Zionist Fighters Jailed

Separatists claiming they are fighting for the restoration of Biafra has been sentenced to jail.

Benjamin Onwuka (left) and his bunch of separatists can create a new republic in prison.

 (Daily Post)

Some members of the proscribed Biafran Zionist Movement, BZM, including their leader, Benjamin Onwuka, have been sentenced to various prison terms for their part in the take over of the Enugu State Government House early this year.

The Federal High Court in Enugu pronounced the sentence on the men who claimed they are fighting for the Igbo cause and would not rest until a Biafra independence is declared but the court found them guilty in a four count charge bordering on treason and attempt to threaten and impart fear in President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Sullivan Chime through their activities in BZM.

The charge against the men reads in part:

That you, Benjamin Onwuka (m), of block 3, flat 1, Railway Quarters Enugu, Ndubuisi Nnamushi (m) of No 31C Onuasata Road Enugu, Kelvin Eteh (m) of Emene Isiugu Village Enugu, Japhet Nwodo (m) of Nmoji Village Nkpor Agwu, Anambra State, Paulinus Uzoegbu (m) of No 8 Abakpa street, Okpoko Onitsha Anambra State, Sunday Chukwuma (m) of Agulere Anambra State.

Also, Uduma Uduma (m) of Obosi Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Betrand Obiekwu (m) of no 7 Nwafor Lane, Nkpor Agu, Onitsha Anambra State and Ijaga Samson (m) of No 17 Mission Road Nkpor Agu Onitsha, Anambra State, on or about the 8th day of March, 2014 at Enugu, within the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, do commit an illegal act with intent to intimidate the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr Goodluck Jonathan as president and the governor of Enugu State.

You thereby committed an offence contrary to section 37(1) and (2) of the criminal code Act LFN 2004 and punishable under the same section of the same act.

The separatists were arrested in June after they launched a failed attack on the Enugu State Broadcasting Service, ESBS, to declare the independence of the Biafra Republic.

Recall that early this year, the BZM had stormed the Enugu State Government House and hoisted their flag, claiming that they had seized power and declared a Biafra independence, before they were repelled.

Pastor Orders Female Members To Remove Underwear So God Can Enter Their Bodies

Kenyan pastor Rev. Njohi has raised not only a few eyebrows but red flags with his unorthodox suggestion of having his female congregants remove their bras and underwear before coming to church, so that Christ can freely enter their bodies with his spirit, according to The Kenyan Daily Post.

Njohi, who is the pastor of the Lord’s Propeller Redemption Church in Kenya, reportedly refers to undergarments as “ungodly.” The bible-toting minister called together a meeting with church officials and allegedly discussed banning the under garments because people “need to be free in body and spirit in order to receive Christ.”

After warning his female congregants about the evils of skivvies, the God-fearing pastor spoke of the damnation they will suffer if they dare not to go bare underneath.

In true fashion, the church’s female population reportedly did come to church sans their undies, the Post reports, in order to prepare for their spiritual taking.

This SICK Pastor probably wanted to lay hands on these unsuspecting women folk!

It Wasn't Me Killer DPO Says He Did Know How Bullets Left His Gun

How could bullets leave a policeman's gun without being fired?

Late Ademola Daramola (inset) and his corpse being taken by protesters to the police state in a wheelbarrow.

 (Elibim Entertainment)

It was a funny session at a Lagos High Court few days ago when a former Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Segun Fabunmi, who shot a young man to death during the January 2012, mass protest on fuel subsidy organized by Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and Trade Union Congress, TUC, confessed that he did not know when the bullets that killed the young man, Ademola Daramola, left his AK 47 riflle.

The DPO who was attached to the Pen Cinema Division of Lagos State Police Command, has since been dismissed from service and has been standing trial for murder, told the stunned court audience that his fingers did not squeeze the trigger of the gun, so it is still an amazement for him that the bullets from his gun flew out to kill the young man.

At the resumed hearing of the trial, Fabunmi said the AK-47 rifle was opened, while on his way to the scene of protest, adding that after Daramola died, he could no longer remember how many rounds of ammunition were left in the rifle until he was about being detained.

The DPO, who was being cross-examined by Lagos State Director of Public Prosecution, DPP, Mrs. Olabisi Ogungbesan, told Justice Olabisi Akinlade that he neither chased anybody, shot nor injured people.

Hear him:

I did not run after the late Ademola Daramola, may his soul rest in peace. I do not know him. Why would I chase him? It is ridiculous. I never ran to anywhere neither did I fire any shot at anybody.

The defendant also told Justice Olabisi Akinlade that on January 9, 2012, he received a distress call that hoodlums at Yaya Abatan Junction, Ogba Agege area, were breaking people’s windscreens and holding innocent people hostage.

He said when he got there, there was break down of law and order and that immediately the hoodlums saw him and the other seven police officers, they started throwing bottles, sticks, cutlasses, stones and Molotov Curtails.

When asked if he knew that some ammunition got out of his gun, Fabunmi said:

Yes. I knew that some ammunition got out of my gun when the hoodlums were trying to dispossess me of my rifle, after I sustained injury.

It took the grace of God for them not to have collected the rifle from me. The other police officers all ran away.

He also said he had only been DPO of Pen Cinema Police Division for two months and that he went to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital for treatment, but could not remember the name of the doctor that treated him.

However, Justice Akinlade adjourned the matter to February 18, 2015, for the adoption of written addresses.

Queen Elizabeth Warns Ebola Crisis Could Divert Attention From Malaria Threat

(PHOTO: REUTERS/TOBY MELVILLE)

Britain's Queen Elizabeth lays a wreath during the French-British ceremony at the British War cemetery in Bayeux, June 6, 2014.

Britain's Queen Elizabeth has warned in a rare social issues statement that the ongoing Ebola crisis could divert attention away from other killer diseases, and pave the way for the comeback of malaria.

"She was afraid that malaria will have a comeback because of the fact people are not paying enough attention to it," the Queen reportedly told David Heymann, a professor of infectious disease epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Heymann added that the queen was "very perceptive," but added this should not detract attention from Ebola.

"It's a very terrible disease," he added, saying that what "the queen has done is call attention to other infectious diseases."

The Ebola outbreak in West Africa has now killed at least 5,420 people and affected 15,145 in total, the World Health Organization said on Wednesday. The virus has spread mostly throughout the countries of Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone, though isolated cases have been reported in neighboring countries as well.

Ebola has also infected at least 584 healthcare workers, resulting in the deaths of 329 of them.

Malaria remains a high-risk illness as well, with WHO pointing out that its clinical presentations overlaps initial signs of the Ebola disease.

"For this reason, the effectiveness of the Ebola response in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone can be optimized through the deployment of targeted measures to reduce the number of fever cases due to malaria," the international body said.

The disease kills close to 3,000 children every day in affected countries, with most cases occurring within Sub-Saharan Africa.

Another British royal, The Duke of Cambridge Prince William, also recently spoke out about the Ebola outbreak, and told West Africans that the world is thinking of them.

"I've been watching with great concern what's been happening in West Africa due to Ebola," William said in the video, published earlier this week. "Healthcare workers down in West Africa have been doing a tremendous job and long may that continue."

"I want to congratulate them on the tackling and prevention of the disease, it's a horrible disease and working in very difficult circumstances," he added.

"So please listen to the healthcare workers. They know what they're talking about. I just want to say keep safe - the world is thinking of you and be safe."

British troops have been sent to Sierra Leone to help build treatment tents and educate the public on Ebola prevention measures, similar to U.S. troops who are operating in Liberia.

3 Ways to Cherish the Differences in Your Spouse

BY JIM DALY

They say opposites attract. And at first, the differences are what make each other loveable.

That's why the introvert marries an extrovert.

                                (Photo: Twitter/Jim Daly)

ends up with a morning person.

The spender decides to get hitched with someone who's really thrifty.

But after the wedding comes… life. And what was once cute is now irritating.

Why is she so soft with the kids? They need to learn some discipline or they'll never grow up to be productive adults!

Why does he have to be so messy? All I want is an orderly home!

You know how it goes. Almost without fail, that personality trait that was so charmingly "opposite" and interesting when you were dating becomes a nuisance once you're married. Gender differences only serve to compound the problem.

I bet some of you who are reading this are nodding your heads about now, a half-smile on your face, thinking about that quirk in your spouse you'd love to change.

For others it's much more than an annoyance. It might be turning into an "irreconcilable difference."

In today's broadcast, Focus' Dr. Greg Smalley and his wife, Erin, point out how the normal frustrations of marriage, when left unchecked, can be the cause of a lot of conflict. "Satan wants us to believe the differences are the problem," Greg says.

But as he continues, we uncover the truth:

"God is saying, 'What I created will never be the problem.' The problem is never differences; it's how people manage their differences," Greg says. "The key is, can you learn how to manage these differences?"

We spent our time together learning how to manage those differences.

I'll share three pieces of advice we explored:

1. Think of marriage like being in a canoe.
Back when you were dating, you had separate canoes. You could come together, row next to someone you relate to… and part ways. But now that you're married, you're in the same canoe. Every little movement you make impacts your spouse. If your spouse leans in one direction, it throws you off-balance as well. It might make you feel unsafe. That's why spouses sometimes try to control each other – they feel threatened by the movement. What you have to learn is this: being in the same canoe is a good thing. Learn to row together.

2. Don't be your spouse's "doctor"
When you go into the hospital for a check-up, the doctors evaluate you for what's wrong. They take a critical look to find out what's off beam. Erin points out how, too often, we take that "clinical" approach to evaluating our spouse. When we look them up and down, we only have eyes for what doesn't align to our preferences or expectations. We coldly critique them instead of extending grace. Needless to say, that's not the best way to keep a marriage strong. Let's choose to remember that God said what He made is good. Let's choose grace.

3. Know thyself… and thy spouse
One thing that will help you show grace is to understand your inner workings, and what makes your spouse tick. Greg and Erin share a funny anecdote about a beautiful drive they once took in silence. While Greg was thinking how pleasant it was to quietly enjoy the scenery together, Erin interrupted his thoughts with a question – "What's wrong?" She thought his silence meant he was ignoring her. In her mind, it was the perfect moment to connect. In that moment, they needed a better understanding of each other. He would have benefitted from knowing she wants to connect with words; she would have found it helpful to understand he needs times of quiet.

I hope you'll tune in to today's broadcast. What I've shared today is but the tip of the iceberg of the keen insight and practical advice Greg and Erin shared. When you tune in you'll also learn about a personality test, available on our website, that helps give couples insight into each other's personality. I believe you'll find it a very useful tool in helping building a stronger relationship with your spouse.

120 Christian Students at Ohio Bible College Face Deportation by US Immigration

(PHOTO: U.S. IMMIGRATION AND CUSTOMS ENFORCEMENT)

Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents making an effort to deport an undocumented illegal immigrant.

About 120 international Christian students attending a Bible college in Ohio could possibly face deportation after their school was recently denied recertification with the U.S. immigration exchange student program.

Although President Barack Obama plans to announce Thursday night an immigration overhaul that could allow nearly 5 million illegal immigrants to remain in the country, the 120 foreign Christian students at Marietta Bible College are in a bind after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement declined to issue the school recertification into the the agency's Student and Exchange Visitor Program.

In doing so, the school's international students must either find a new school to transfer to or they will face deportation starting in February 2015. Additionally, the college may no longer accept international students.

According to a report from a local Ohio NBC affiliate, the school's president, pastor Myron Guiler, said the school was notified over the summer that the accrediting association the college had been affiliated with was no longer accredited.

"We were notified in the summer and we went back and forth on this, but they told us not to seek to join another accrediting association at that time," Guiler said.

After the college was notified that its accrediting association lost accreditation, Guiler said that a U.S. immigration official visited the school and told school officials they needed to provide three crucial pieces of information to maintain its certification.

The school, which opened in 1977, had to find three institutions with accreditation that would accept its credits, provide a statement that indicated the school is, in fact, a church ministry, and a detailed financial report.

Even though Guiler said the school provided all the requested information by the deadline specified by the official that visited the school, they were still denied their recertification.

"We gave it to the man; that's what he asked for. He said the deadline was not until Nov. 1, but on Oct. 24 we were notified that we were dropped," Guiler asserted.

Although Guiler claims that school officials presented the requested information in time, a representative for the Student and Exchange Visitor Program told the NBC affiliate that Marietta Bible College did not submit the requested information.

"Can't confirm that they provided anyone with anything, as far as the information I have is that the evidence was not submitted to us," the program's public information officer, Carissa Cutrell, said. "It is not a small paperwork issue. This is a huge part of being certified by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program. We certify schools to make sure they are bonafide schools, so when you do not respond to requests for evidence or recertification that leads us to believe that there might be other issues."

In an interview with Fox News' Todd Starnes, Guiler again asserts that the school did provide the requested information to the official that visited the school.

"There were about six of us and we met with the gentleman," Guiler states. "We provided him with all the information that he requested."

Guiler additionally told Starnes that although the school had tried to contact the Student and Exchange Visitor Program with questions, the school never got any returned phone calls.

The school has hired immigration lawyers that will help try to get the school reinstated into the exchange program.

"We went to Cleveland and we hired immigration lawyers and they have put together a package requesting that we be reinstated and it is now in the hands of immigration," Guiler stated. "They have got to make the decision."

Starnes, a frequent conservative commenter, said in his column that he feels as though the Marietta Bible College's problem with U.S. Immigration has "less to do about religion" but rather is more of an issue of bureaucratic "red tape."

"By the government's own admission, the college has dutifully applied for recertification for more than 10 years without a single problem. So maybe Uncle Sam just lost the paperwork?" Starnes wrote. "But that certainly doesn't mitigate this terrible tragedy,"

Adebayor accuses mum of doing ‘juju’ against him

Tottenham Hotspur Emmanuel Adebayor is on a warpath his family after accusing him of neglecting them.

                                    Emmanuel Adebayor

The Togo captain is alleged to have ejected his mother madam Alice Adebayor from the US$ 1.5million he bought for the family.

It is reported that the former Arsenal man split with his relatives because they were doing rituals against him.

“For the past six years Adebayor has rejected his mother and his immediate family whilst doing charity outside on the premise that our mother is a witch,” Adebayor’s cousin Margaret told Accra-based Peace FM.

“We have been thinking of his future as a footballer and did not want this issue out in the media but it is becoming too much.

“Could you believe Adebayor ordered his machomen to sack our mother and his own mother from a house he built in Togo claiming she is a witch?

“As we speak our mother lives in an apartment rented by our junior brother, Kola Adebayor, who currently lives in Germany.

“My mother weeps bitterly about the issue every day.  Anytime his mother or any of us (his close relatives) call and he realizes, he will quickly cut the call.

Margaret added: “I personally supervised the building of his house in Trassaco and he gave us an apartment in the house. But all of a sudden he changed his attitude towards us, one afternoon his machomen came to drive us away from the house.”

But in a rebuttal, Adebayor denied the allegations although he admitted his relationship with his family has been severed.

“Ask my sister Margaret whether I did not build them a house in East Legon, and what happened to it? I bought my younger sister Lucia a car worth $35,000, where is it?” Ade explained.

“If they want the issue resolved they should stop spreading the news and let’s meet to resolve it but they aren’t willing to do so.” Adebayor added

Togo coach admits Ghana class

Togo were outclassed by a better team as Ghana won 3-1, according to Tchakala Tchanile.

The Sparrow Hawks coach presided over a poor show in Ghana’s northern city of Tamale as the Black Stars booked a ticket to the next African Cup.

A goal from Floyd Ayite was not enough to stem the flurry of attacks that culminated in strikes from Abdul Majeed Waris, Mubarak Wakaso and Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu.

“Ghana was one team, they played compact and all of them try to fight together,” Tchanile said after the game.

“You could see from the first half they wanted to win and I think all the eleven players on the field worked hard for the team to win.”

Togo therefore miss out on the competition after making it to the 2013 edition but for Ghana it is yet another Afcon after making every edition in the past eight years.

Rich getting richer, poor getting poorer says Swiss Bank study

US businessman, inventor and philanthropist Bill Gates is the richest man in the world

the world’s adult population controls nearly $30 trillion in assets, 13 per cent of the world’s total wealth, according to a new study released Thursday.

And perhaps unsurprisingly, the study by the Swiss bank UBS and luxury industry consultant Wealth-X said the concentration of money in the hands of the ultra-rich is growing.

The report said 211,275 million people qualify as “ultra-high net worth” (UHNW) — those with assets above $30 million. Of them, 2,325 have more than $1 billion.

Their numbers grew 6 per cent over the past year, but their wealth grew 7 per cent, as asset markets like stocks and property soared in many places around the world.

The fastest growth, indeed, came in the “demi-billionaire” group worth a half-billion to a billion dollars apiece, the study said.

“Even amidst geopolitical conflicts, socio-economic strife, and volatile currency markets, the world’s equity markets displayed strong performances, thereby enabling UHNW individuals’ wealth to increase and their influence across industries and sectors to grow — from their importance in wealth management to their consumption of luxury goods,” it said.

“Such a large concentration of wealth in the hands of these few individuals means that they tend to have a large degree of influence, whether on global equity markets or specific industries.”

Of the nearly $30 trillion this elite group controls, just over one-third is in the hands of tycoons in North America, more than one-quarter in Europe, and 23 percent in Asia.

Of them, 87 per cent are men, of the average age of 59, and nearly one-quarter of them were in banking. Of them, 68 per cent were “self-made” rich, 13 per cent rich by inheritance, and the rest a combination of the two.

The average ultra-rich woman was 57, and more likely to be involved in non-profit and social organizations (19 per cent) than any other sector. Nearly half became wealthy through inheritance, while one-third were self-made wealthy.

As F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote, the rich are different. The average UHNW-er spends $1 million a year on luxury goods and services.

Yet, the study points out, luxury items can be “part and parcel of their lifestyle and are not necessarily considered a ‘luxury.'”

“For example, UHNW individuals with private jets use their aircraft not only for leisure, but also for business purposes.

“On the other hand, while yachts, and particularly superyachts, are usually a non-necessity, many UHNW individuals lead very public lives, and the privacy of a family holiday on a yacht is a very special treat.”

European Union condemns Katsina Gov. Shema’s “cockroach” speech

                                  Ibrahim Shema, Katsina State Governor

The European High Commission on Thursday in Abuja condemned a speech made by Katsina State governor, Ibrahim Shema, urging his supporters to attack his political opponents and treat them as “cockroaches”.

The Head, EU Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Michael Arrion, told journalists that Mr. Shema’s call to his supporters to “kill” and “crush” political opponents was “extremely dangerous and unacceptable”.

“If it is confirmed, that kind of statements are I’m sorry to say, extremely dangerous and unacceptable,” Mr. Arrion said.

Mr. Shema was caught in a video urging his supporters to reprise any provocation by the opposition and to crush them like “cockroaches”.

He asked the crowd what to do if they found the nocturnal insect in their apartments.

The crowd chorused “Kill them!”

“Crush them!” the governor responded, agreeing with the crowd.

Referring to Rwanda’s 1994 pre-genocide statements made by Hutus against the Tutsis, Mr. Arrion said politicians must desist from using such hateful words and comments.

He also said the EU will be giving financial support to Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

He said a team of EU observers will be arriving Nigeria at the beginning of next year, 2015 to ensure a smooth election process.

The team unlike their predecessors, he said will be spending four months in Nigeria.

He said the presence of “the long term observers” will enable the EU to monitor the election and post-election processes.

The observers will also be saddled with the responsibility of monitoring technical issues, voters turn out, percentage of Nigerians given the opportunity to vote, legal frameworks among others.

“We are going to have a few dozens of observers, we cannot have observers at all polling units,” he said.

On European investments, Mr. Arrion said Nigeria must ensure an enabling legal environment to attract European investors.

He said that while Nigeria has all it takes -resources – it must create an enabling environment for business to trip.

He explained that the commission does not get involved in decision of investors.

Justin Bieber Cuts Off Alcohol and Drugs as Part of 2-Week Mission to Become a Better Christian; Singer to Spend the Time With Hillsong's Carl Lentz

(PHOTO: INSTAGAM/JUDAH SMITH)

Hillsong NYC church pastor Carl Lentz is seen with recording artist and friend Justin Bieber in a photo shared by Pastor Judah Smith on Inst

Justin Bieber is said to be on a mission for self improvement and a new report claims the pop star has enlisted the help of his pastor.

The 20-year-old "Baby" singer will reportedly spend two weeks with Carl Lentz, lead pastor at Hillsong New York City, in a bid to become a better Christian, according to TMZ.com.

In recent months, Lentz, who baptized Bieber in June, has become a trusted source for the singer. The pair has spent a lot of time together through church, particularly at bible study and they have formed a friendship.

Bieber has reportedly cut off all of the harmful influences and habits in his life, including bad friends, drugs and alcohol abuse as he works to grow spiritually by avoiding temptation. He is also said to be learning how to spread the Word of God.

The Christian Post contacted a rep for Justin Bieber for comment but a response was not received at the time of this publication.

On Tuesday a photo of the singer allegedly at Rancho Mirage, which is just outside of Palm Springs, surfaced on Instagram. He has not publicly confirmed reports of a spiritual mission.

Bieber, who has faced a number of legal woes this year, is often photographed attending Hillsong services in New York City. In the past, he has been photographed attending church with his on and off girlfriend Selena Gomez and more recently model Kendall Jenner.

who he met at a concert back in 2008.

"I have a special role in Justin's life, spiritually, but … I'm not a life-motivational guy," Lentz said according to the New York Post. "We're talking about making sure his life remains a blessing, not a burden."

The singer has been heavily criticized in the past due to ongoing legal woes, some stemming from his arrest back in January, as well as reports of alleged drug use. However, Lentz believes he just needs a bit of support.

"I love Justin, he's a good kid. He's trying to figure this out. His behavior ... you know, he's figuring it out," the pastor previously told CBN. "What should we do? … People who are like, 'Is he even a Christian?' With Justin, I tell people grace and acceptance does not mean approval. I can accept you as a human being and not approve of your actions. That's how we've been loved. We love because we were first loved… With Justin, it's not my job to be his police officer. It's my job to be a friend to him, and that's all I am."

CP contacted Lentz for comment but a response was not received at press time.

Obama's Executive Order Will Authorize Work Permits for 5 Million Illegals; Immigration Plan Is 'Unconstitutional' Top Republicans Say

(PHOTO: REUTERS/LARRY DOWNING)

U.S. President Barack Obama answers questions during a news conference in the East Room of the White House in Washington, November 5, 2014. The president addressed reporters one day after after Republicans seized control of the U.S. Senate and captured their biggest majority in the House of Representatives in more than 60 years.

President Barack Obama is expected to sign an executive order on Friday authorizing work permits to 5 million illegal immigrants and top Republicans have slammed the decision as unconstitutional.

While details of the immigration plan have not yet been released, it is understood that the order will ultimately shield 5 million undocumented immigrants from deportation.

The announcement will be made Thursday evening at 8 p.m. EST during a prime-time television address and four major broadcast networks (ABC, NBC, FOX and CBS) confirmed they will not air it.

Obama will follow the immigration announcement with a pro-immigration rally in Las Vegas on Friday at Del Sol High School, which has a large population of non-English speaking students.

"Everybody agrees that our immigration system is broken. Unfortunately Washington has allowed the problem to fester for too long," Obama said in a Facebook video message. "And so what I'm going to be laying out is the things that I can do with my lawful authority as president, to make the system better even as I continue to work with Congress and encourage them to get a bipartisan, comprehensive bill that can solve the entire problem."

There's an estimated 11.2 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. The state of Nevada reportedly has the highest proportion of any U.S. state as 7.6 percent of its population are undocumented immigrants.

Republican House Speaker John Boehner previously warned Obama against using executive action to bypass Congress on immigration, saying "he's going to burn himself."

On Wednesday, Boehner's spokesman Michael Steel issued a statement condemning Obama's executive order.

"If 'Emperor Obama' ignores the American people and announces an amnesty plan that he himself has said over and over again exceeds his constitutional authority, he will cement his legacy of lawlessness and ruin the chances for congressional action on this issue — and many others," Steel said.

Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, who is strongly opposed to Obama's position on immigration, blasted the order as "unconstitutional" in an op-ed via politico.com.

He also described the immigration plan as "lawless" and accused Obama of being "angry" at the nation.

Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., warned of civil disobedience should Obama follow through with the executive order.

"The country's going to go nuts, because they're going to see it as a move outside the authority of the president, and it's going to be a very serious situation," Coburn said. "You're going to see — hopefully not — but you could see instances of anarchy. ... You could see violence."

Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, who previously threatened impeachment over Obama's immigration plan, again expressed his concerns and accused the president of abusing his power.

"We had an opportunity to do some things in a bipartisan way, but the president has decided to throw gas on the fire," King said.

Senator Barbara Boxer, Democrat of California supports the President's actions and feels it will help the economy by keeping immigrant families together.

"If we don't act, the dire situation of undocumented immigrants will only get worse, families will continue to be torn apart, people will continue to live in the shadows," said Ms. Boxer on the floor of the Senate on Wednesday after the President's speech was announced. "I say to the president today, as I have said to him in writing, if you act, you will have my strong support, and you will have the support of so many people across the country."
