5 killed, N4.4m recovered from bank robbery


It has been reported that 5 people were killed, while N4.4m was recovered from a armed robbery attack that took place in Edo state today, November 4.


This afternoon, dare devil robbers reportedly raided two banks and killed five persons including policemen in Igarra, headquarters Akoko-Edo local government area.

The robbers stormed Igarra with several vehicles, first attacking the police station in the area where they killed a policeman and looted its armoury.

Other members of the gang were said to have simultaneously attacked the two banks where they killed a policeman and three civilians.

Local vigilante groups reportedly joined in the shoot-out and blocked all routes to Igarra town which made the robbers abandon the vehicles used for the operation.

One of the robbers that participated in the attack was arrested, while another was shot dead.

Items recovered from the robbers included N4.4m cash, 11 AK47 rifles, 41 AK47 magazines, three T06 rifles, two vehicles, 21 unexploded bombs, 46 T06 live ammunition, seven mobile phones and seven exploded bomb cans.
