I Keep Weapons for Armed Robbery Gangs

Crack detectives attached to Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 29-year-old man, who keeps weapons for armed robbery gangs. Rasak Adeyinka, a native of Abeokuta, Ogun State, was apprehended in his hideout, Owode, Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun state sometime in March 2015.

Among them, it was learnt, was an attack on retired Primate of Anglican Communion also, an indigene of Abeokuta, Rev. Peter Jasper Akinola, on December 24, 2013, at Aro, Abeokuta. Also, it was said that the gang attacked the Rector, DS Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Abeokuta, on March 24, 2013, at Papalanto area where the driver of the rector, one Musibau was killed and the Bursar of the institution sustained bullet wounds. Only the rector, it was learnt, escaped unhurt, while their Toyota Hilux was snatched, until the vehicle was demolished, on account of the tracking device installed in it.

Irked by the sudden stalling, it was said the gang members set the vehicle ablaze at Papalanto. The same gang, it was said, was responsible for the attack on an ace footballer, Mr. Segun Odegbami, who was attacked at Wasimi area, between Itori and Obada Oko, Abeokuta, sometime in September 2013.
The footballer’s car, it was learnt, was snatched.
The gang’s reign continued sometime in March 2013, a police source hinted, when a commercial bus was attacked at Osupori, after Wasimi and a woman having a huge amount on her was killed, while her daughter, three-month old was spared.

The source further hinted that the commercial vehicle was being chased by the gang, following a tip-off that the woman, a trader, who was going to Abeokuta to buy some items, had a huge amount on her.
The woman’s daughter, it was added, was spared, as the rampaging robbers removed and laid her by roadside to avoid in-coming vehicles, running over her.

Rasak, a father of three children, claimed, he never partook in any robbery operation, but admitted, he was keeping weapons for various armed robbery gangs. “I kept those weapons at Odo-Seje, along Ajilete road, Owode. Usually, I kept them in a sack and used weeds to cover them.
At the end of every operation, the each gang offered me N40, 000. The various gangs are being headed by Asumo, Azeez, Kale and Wewe”, said Rasak, alias Aro. Recovered from him were an AK-47 rifle, with three magazines and a Beretta pistol.

Mr. Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest of the lone robber and said that efforts were in top gear to arrest other fleeing members of various gangs.
