Dasha Zhukova, the daughter of a Russian oligarch and ex-wife of billionaire Roman Abramovich, has secretly moved to Sardinia with her new husband Stavros Niarchos, a Greek shipping heir, sources say.
The high-profile couple disappeared after sanctions were announced on Abramovich, forcing him to put his Chelsea soccer club up for sale.
For the first time in six years, Abramovich, a good friend of Vladimir Putin, did not make the Forbes list. His net worth was more than halved from nearly $15 billion in January to $6.9 billion.
His ex-wife Dasha closed her private museum in Moscow, the Garage, and pulled her kids out of private school in Manhattan, sources tell me.
She has two children with Abramovich and a baby with Niarchos, who dated reality star Paris Hilton, actress Mary-Kate Olsen and a slew of models before settling down.
Paparazzi have been staking out her townhouse on the Upper East Side with no results.
While Niarchos’ family owns its own island in Greece, we are told the couple has been holed up in Sardinia, which is empty during its off-season. Dasha’s high-profile father Alexander has a compound there. The Russian-born businessman is listed as an oil titan.
Once asked by an associate what he thought of Dasha marrying Abramovich, he replied, “Well, I guess it’s better than marrying a plumber.”
