Three suspects assisting Kaduna Police with investigations over burning of church in Zaria


Three suspects are now assisting the Kaduna State Police Command in its investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the burning down of Christian Evangelical Fellowship of Nigeria (CEFN), No. 53 Galma street, Sabon Gari, Zaria.

It was alleged that on Thursday morning, an eye witness informed the Pastor of the Church, Pastor Samuel Jacob that the Church was on fire.
On getting to the premises of the Church, Pastor Jacob discovered that the Church had been set ablaze and everything including chairs and other materials used in the Church were completely destroyed.

According to the pastor of the Church, a hole was discovered on the wall of the Church from where the suspects gained access into the Church resulting in the burning of the worship center.

On seeing what happened, the pastor reported the matter to the Sabon Gari Divisional Police Office and traditional ruler of the area.

This resulted to the arrest of the three suspects now in police custody.

The zonal pastor incharged of the North West of CEFN, Rev. Philip U. Utaji, told DAILY POST that all the musical instruments were catered away.


When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Aliyu Usman, confirmed the arrest of the three suspects in connection with the fire incident.

He assured that investigation into the matter was ungoing, adding that as soon as investigation was completed, the suspects would be charged to court.

The three suspects are Muda Mu’azu, Abdulrahman Saidu and Aliyu Yakubu, while the forth suspect is still at large.
