AFCON Qualifiers Round Up: Cote d’Ivoire Earn 1st Win, Gabon Too



Cote d’Ivoire moved up to second in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying group with a slender 1-0 win over Sudan at the Felix Houphouet-Boigny stadium in Abidjan on Friday.

Gervinho scored the only goal of the game in the 34th minute to hand the Elephants their first win in Group I.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Malick Evouna found the back of the net for Gabon in a 2-1 win over Sierra Leone in an international friendly match at Stade de Franceville on Friday.

The Panthers build on their good run of form as they continue their preparation to hosting the tournament next year.

An own goal on the cusp of half-time earned Zimbabwe a 1-1 draw against Swaziland at the Somhlolo National Stadium in Lobamba on Friday.

A point apiece leaves the two Southern African sides deadlocked on five points atop Group L after three rounds of fixtures.

Meanwhile, a 96th minute goal from Khalil Moulaye Ahmed handed Mauritania a 2-1 win over Gambia in a Group M, Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match at the Stade Olympique in Nouakchott on Friday.
