Mother Who Caged Daughter in Chicken Den When Torturing Her Jailed for 190 Years

AN 'EVIL' mother who caged her daughter in a chicken coop and shocked her with a electric dog collar has been jailed for 190 years

Cruel Diana Franklin tied her adopted girl to a tree by her neck during a shocking six-year campaign of torture.

Franklin, 48, also beat the naked child with a belt buckle and held her at gunpoint, according to reports.

The American Civil War re-enactor - who served in the US Air Force - wrote in a diary how the girl was her "slave".
She repeatedly deprived her daughter of food, water or clothing.

Sentencing her, Judge Bobby Peters said:"To me, you are just an evil woman."

The judge added: “You’ll actually get better treatment in prison than you gave your own daughter."

But remorseless Franklin insisted she was simply "sharing her wisdom" with the victim, who has not been named.

She was convicted of 19 counts of first-degree cruelty to children, eight counts of false imprisonment and one count of aggravated assault.

The girl was adopted by Franklin when she was aged 10 in 2007.

She revealed her ordeal after social services rescued her inside from a padlocked garage in 2012, following an anonymous tip off.

Giving evidence during Franklin's trial, the victim told how she has post-traumatic stress disorder and suffers nightmares and flashbacks.

But despite her horrific experience, the girl, now 18, has FORGIVEN Frankin.

She said at the sentencing hearing on Tuesday: "I don't hate you anymore, I forgive you for everything you've done.

"I forgive you and do not hate you, but you have to pay for what you did to me."

Frankin's husband, Samuel, also faces similar charges and is expected to appear in court next year.
