Nigerian Air Force has bombed a Boko Haram base in the country’s southeast and arrested more than 20 militants in its biggest counter-attack in eight months, security sources told Reuters news agency.
According to the sources, government forces tracked the militants after a soldier was killed when a military vehicle was blown up by the group near Lake Chad on Monday.
Members of the militant group have repeatedly attacked the Lake Chad area, including Diffa border region of the country.
“Our air forces destroyed this nest, but we do not yet have an official death toll,” a military officer said, adding that the soldiers had arrested the remaining fighters.
Meanwhile, the radical sect has released a new video, showing how some members of the group chopped off the right hands of two men alleged to have stolen some money.
In the video which was released on the social media, the terrorists were seen reading charges against the two alleged thieves before carrying out their dastardly acts.
The terrorists, before the act was carried out said in Sharia, stealing means “hudud” or “a crime against God” and the Quran 5:38 advises this: “(Asfor) the thief, the male and the female, amputate their hands in recompense for what they committed as a deterrent (punishment) from Allah. And Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise.”
These charges were read by one of the fighters after which the hands of the alleged thieves were chopped off.
