Coach Jurgen Klopp will no doubt be seeking his first Premiership victory at the expense of Chelsea who are rooted 15 position on the log. Last weekend Chelsea suffered a fifth Premier League defeat of the season at West Ham United while Liverpool, who have drawn all three games since Klopp’s appointment are looking forward to a win.
The season has been one of the worst for Mourinho who is under immense pressure to get results.
Already waiting in the wings is a former Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink who has made his intention known that he wants another sitint with the blues.
In fact, he has refused to rule out the possibility of returning to Chelsea if Jose Mourinho leaves Stamford Bridge.
The Dutchman managed Chelsea on a temporary basis in 2009, winning the FA Cup, and is currently without a job after resigning from the Holland job during their ill-fated bid to reach Euro 2016.
Mourinho is under increasing pressure following a poor start to the season that has seen five Premier League defeats and an early exit from the Capital One Cup.
Another poor result in Saturday’s league match with Liverpool could see Mourinho’s second spell at the club come to an end, with Hiddink and Carlo Ancelotti among the names in the frame to replace him.
And asked by Voetbal International whether he would be interested, Hiddink said: ‘Top class football is always attractive. I’ve had some offers come my way recently, but there were no jobs I wanted to get in to right away.
‘We’ll see, we just have to wait now.’
Hiddink, 68, arrived at Stamford Bridge in February 2009 following the sacking of Brazilian Luiz Felipe Scolari. He stabilised the club, leading them to a third-place finish in the Premier League, the semi-finals of the Champions League and the FA Cup final, where they beat Everton 2-1.
