Dickson’s Aide Resigns Over Alleged Non-payment Of Salaries

The senior special assistant (SSA) to the governor of Bayelsa State on non-indigenes, Chief Chinedu Mba, yesterday resigned his appointment, citing non-payment of his salaries and allowances for over a year.
Mba’s resignation was said to have caused panic in the Government House following fears that the action could negatively affect non-indigenes’ support for the re-election bid of Governor Seriake Dickson.

Mba, who is the chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Association of Non-Indigenes in Bayelsa State (ANBS), played a key role in the 2012 electoral victory of the governor. He led hundreds of non-indigenes on a road march for Dickson and later convinced them to vote for the governor.

Chinedu Mba, in his letter of resignation made available to newsmen in Yenagoa, said he faced intimidation, oppression and unfair treatments in the over three years that he served the state governor.
He alleged that his travails were masterminded by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Edmund Allison-Oguru, whom he accused of always levelling unfounded allegations against him.
He said no memo was approved for his office within the period he worked for the government.

In the letter dated September 14 and addressed to the governor, Mba said: “Since l was appointed till date, l have suffered intimidation, oppression, unfair treatments and unfounded allegations always levelled against me without proof from the office of the SSG.”
