Rev Canon Mpho Tutu said her father wished to thank everyone who had sent love and prayers over the past 24 hours‚ telephonically‚ electronically and through social and mass media channels.
Tutu‚ was admitted to a Cape Town hospital on Tuesday "for treatment to a persistent infection"‚ his family said earlier.
The illness is not believed to be related to prostate cancer‚ from which he suffered in the 1990s.
