Trans women are creating their own Vanity Fair covers and they’re brilliant

While the word talks about Caitlyn Jenner’s Vanity Fair cover, some members of the trans community are asking ‘Where’s MY Vanity Fair cover?’

There’s no denying that Caityln Jenner introduced herself to the world in spectacular style. But while many people have applauded her bravery and raved about her beauty, some in the trans community have been a little more introspective.

From OITNB star Laverne Cox writing on her blog, to Montreal-based writer Kai Cheng Thom, who wrote an open letter to Caitlyn Jenner for xoJane, many people in the trans community have expressed mixed feelings about Caitlyn Jenner.

And on Wednesday, trans blogger Crystal Frasier visualised her frustration with the situation by creating her own Vanity Fair cover, and urged others to do the same too.

Writing on her blog, Crystal explained: ‘a large contingent of the trans community has engaged in a lot of dialogue the past few days, ever since Vanity Fair announced their Caitlyn Jenner’s cover story, most of which revolves around the idea that the world only seems to embrace us if we’re wealthy enough or lucky enough to adhere to white, cisnormative beauty standards.’

She went on: ‘whether we fit those standards or not, we’re beautiful, and we all deserve to feel beautiful, and be acknowledged by the world.’

Here are just some of the beautiful and inspiring covers which have been posted so far…
