Japan closes spa due to orgies

The Japanese have long celebrated hot spring bathing as an opportunity to relax the mind and recharge the body. But for one hot spring resort another activity has been added to the list: orgies.

Fudo no Yu, a famous hot spring, or onsen, in Nasushiobara City, Tochigi prefecture, has closed its doors after reports of lewd acts being committed and broadcast on the internet.

Closure of the springs, which cost ¥200 to enter, was confirmed on the website of the Shiobara Hot Spring Tourism Association.

Indulging in group sex acts and filming adult footage were among the allegations of misconduct, media reported.

Key culprits were believed to be a group of middle-aged men and several young women who visited Fudo no Yu at weekends, according to the Tokyo Times.
