Professional surfer Martin Passeri threw away his chances of taking home the Argentine Surf Championship trophy for the sixth time to do something truly amazing.

Martin shocked fans when he ditched the comp to invite Nicolás Gallegos onto his board and into the water.

The man had his dreams of being a surfer crushed when he was left paralysed 20 years ago.

Martin was disqualified for his selfless act and he has described it as one of his proudest moments.
