NDLEA Arrests Pentecostal Pastor Caught With Hard Drugs

A Lagos pastor Daniel Lanre Akintola, 43, has been arrested by Operatives of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, AIIA, Enugu, for concealing 1.978kg of heroin in the bottom of his luggage. The arrest comes just a few weeks after a Lagos-based pastor was arrested for smuggling narcotics to South Africa at the Lagos Airport.
The suspect, who claimed to be returning from minister’s conference in Uganda, wanted to abandon his luggage, for fear of arrest but was subsequently arrested after the NDLEA discovered his intention.

Akintola acknowledged the ownership of the bag but claimed, he is not a drug trafficker but a Pastor with a pentecostal Church in Lagos.
The suspect, who hails from Oyo State but lives in Lagos, could however not produce evidence that he actually attended a minister’s conference in Uganda.
