Woman Searching For Her Birth Mother Realises She’s Been Working With Her For Four Years

A 38-year-old woman from Youngstown, Ohio, finally discovered who her birth mother was and then realised they’d been working in the same company for the last four years.

La-Sonya Mitchell Clark was able to learn the name of her birth mum after the Ohio Department of Health released the birth records for those born between Jan 1 1964 and Sept 18, 1996 last month.

A week ago, she received a letter in the mail which would change her life.

‘I picked it up and seen the Department of Health from Columbus. So, I knew right then and there this was it,’ she told WYTV.

She discovered her mum’s name was Francine Simmons, so she looked her up on Facebook and discovered she worked at a company called Infocision, Youngstown.

Which is also where La-Sonya works.
Mum and daughter had actually been working together in the same company for four years, albeit in different departments.

La-Sonya says it suddenly clicked that she already knew her mum: ‘There’s a Francine that works at my job. She works in VR and she works at the front desk,’ she explained.

She tracked Francine down via friends on social media and, a day later, she finally got to hear her mum’s voice.

‘She called me and I said, “Is this Ms. Francine?” She said, yes. I said, “I think I’m your daughter”‘, La-Sonya says.

Francine, who had also been searching for La-Sonya, said she got pregnant when she was just 14 and had her when she was 15, while living in a girls’ home. ‘Didn’t get to name her, but I named her myself in my heart all these years,’ she says.

And the surprises didn’t end there. Not only have mum and daughter been living only six minutes apart, La-Sonya also has three sisters, one of whom also works at Incision.
